A big thank you to the marshalls in this year's race who must have endured some harsh conditions. Great stuff.
Anybody know what the score is with water (streams etc) on the BB race this saturday...looks like it might be warm and I'm not keen to carry the weight.
Cheers
I would be confident that you could get water from the reservoir (or the stream exiting it) just below Pen Y Fan and before the check point at trig 642 and there are normally a couple of streams that cross the windy ridge path between trig 642 and Corn Du.
I won't be carrying much water as I'm sure I can find enough.
I bet you were thirsty! BB race is one of the few where even I carry water!
Er.... I was, not sure the plastic cup below the reservoir quite cut the mustard!!
What a disaster this was for me this year.
A disturbed nights sleep in the car on Friday thanks to an owl sat in the tree above me - pesky creature, and the 2 scotch eggs simply did not cut the mustard for breakfast.
I knew it was going to be a disaster when I am stood on the start line and I am already feeling hungry and tired. After the first 6 miles it started going down hill and then it was just pray for the finish. The last 5 miles I think I walked more than I ran. Considering I was hoping for a 3.15 - 3.30 time but after finally finishing in 3.56 I was just thankful to finish.
The weather was fantastic and scorching hot.
Thanks to the organisers for another great day.
This is a horrible race to do if you feel 'off' in any way. It really is relentless ridge trashing with only the mid third providing any light relief. It's for OCD sufferers only! Last time I did it (anti-clock) I stopped at the summit of Pen Y Fan and jogged back to the start along the tram way and the road rather than suffer the really boring run back in from there. How many did it this year?
Ah yes! My faithful St Bernard was there to meet me with reviving spirit! There was something quite special about sitting there on the summit trig, supping the amber nectar and watching other poor souls looming up out of the mist, full knowing what dire running was to befall them! Mindyou, it was still an effin' long way back to the start!
