Results for no.5 up soon?
The results are now up on the website. Did Chris Taylor really knock a minute off the course record? Fantasic run if he did. I didn't even manage a pb!
What exactly is considered to be the course record?
By my old paper-based records Micah Wilson holds the course record of 21:29 set on 11th July 1988, closely followed by Keith Darlow's time of 21-33 from 1976, with the late John Taylor recording the third fastest time ever of 21-42 on 3rd August 1992.
The web-based results database originally gave Craig Moore with 23:10, until a load of pb's were lost leaving the currently recorded best time as Robert Little's 23:20.
rob was back first, the results are all over the place at the mo,ie stuart maycock junior male, dont think so.
Managed 32 minutes which I think I am happy with given its the first time I have done this course and hadn't a clue how to pace myself! Didn't help by turning up with 2 minutes to spare and forgot to drink any water before too.
First of all a big apology for the results at the moment, Martin has a new job and is handing over at the end of the year to a trio of IT based runners who will be updating and simplifying the system.
Yes, footpathrunner, Rob was back first and yes results are all over , give me a little time and watch this space, Chris Taylor should be recorded in the junior race?????.
Course record set by Micah in 1988 was 21:29, and by Carol Greenwood in 1986 was 25:01.
Over the period since then the course has altered slightly, main part being the climb up California Quarry, now you go through the gate onto the rough climb and do a right turn up steps and over a stile to turn left and over the cow s**t to run across a bit of private land to the cattle grid. When micah and Carol set the records the right turn up the steps and over the stile to turn left wasn't there, you went through the gate onto the rough climb and carried on, farmer put a fence up.
Other differences are a little less obvious, state of stepping stones, various water ruts, stile after the bottom river crossing.
All of which, in my opinion, puts the biggest part of a minute on the course.
A line was drawn under the old Trunce at the beginning of last year.
Stuart Bond did 23:03 2nd race of 2007, Rob was 23:29, which is down as the mens record to beat, Lizzie Adams did 27:21 1st race 2007 to set the ladies record.
Hope this clears up some questions, the ones about the results may take me a little longer the sort.:D
Glad you all seem to enjoy yourselves.
word perfect mr p;).
Thanks for the reply PlumBum, I hadn't noticed Stuart Bond's time.
I've been doing the race on and off (when not living away) since about 1983 and the small changes to the course seemed to get overlooked.
The old result prints used to list the top 20 times in each category; it would be nice if the power of t'internet could be used to show a ranking for everyone. Although showing people in the right race would be a good start - good luck and thanks for putting on a great race.
Hopefully, but it will be next season, we will start to get back to results, on the night, in the similar format we used to have from John Dyson.
I want to see points for the race and accumulated points for the season, hadn't thought about top places per category but will put it on the list to look at.
I have spent several hours going over the registration and results sheets and there are a few anomolies .
There are several people who did not register but were recorded at the finish, some people do come a little late and run and mention it after, others run and don't mention it after (they must need the £1.20 desperately ). I also have several people who registered but were not recorded at the finish :o.
Can anyone confirm, or otherwise, Shaun Marsden, Mark Fulford, Nick Morris and Clare Chapman ran in Trunce 5 please.

We have had more than our share of "challenges" :o with the web site this year.
Over the winter months there are 3 people, all who run the Trunce and are IT based in their working life, developing (going back to when John Dyson did the results) a spread sheet to get results out on the night and upgrading / re writing the web site to be able to download said spread sheet 1 or 2 days later.
For all concerned, the last Trunce, optional fancy dress, is on September 8th.

Are spreadsheet downloads the best way to go? Not everyone has the software, and frankly most people just want a "normal" result sheet for the race. maybe a straight result sheet on the day/day after, and the fancy stuff later. Or go the same way UK results works [sortable columns] - having to check boxes [as per current site] makes things more complicated than it needs to be.
Will definitely NOT be like present site.
Development is still in its infancy, all sensible suggestions will be taken on board.
Main aim is to guarantee paper copy results on the night and give people who wish to stay for a social something to talk about.
Adding to a web site (wether existing one or complete new one) will be a bonus.
Hey Plum Bum Any news on T8 results?:) (Curious to see if I snook a couple of points) Ta
Wish I could say yes WL :o. Martin seems to have dissapeared from the face of the earth . He did promise to be at the last race, not holding by breath though.
The leader board posted earlier is a mix of results up to T7 and then a bit of paper / pen pushing to add T8 positions and PB's for the top 6 in each category.
I will keep trying to contact Martin.
Next year you will see results on the night with web site updated within 2 to 3days. I've said it now.
No problem Plum Bum. Can't imagine what a mighty task it must be for you each time. Til I know otherwise I'll assume I won T8 with a course record!;)
I've set the alarm for 7:59 PLUMBUM:D
AND I wasn't even there!
So the end of my first trunce season. Looking forward to seeing the photos from last night, with all the tutus and leotards! Terrific course. Well organised. Dead friendly. Thanks to all of you who have laboured so hard to make it happen and for putting up with all our irritating posts about results. See y'all next year:D
Thanks to Andy and his team. A great series.
I was surprised how many PB's there were last night as it was very heavy underfoot.
Also can I thank the many people who dontated money to the local MR team who ran round the course carrying a stretcher as part of the fancy dress festivities. They must have been mad, even though they ended up with thier own pb 50.47
Lots of prizes afterwards, roll on next year.
Still got a back log of photos from the weekend so last nights might be a day or two. In the meantime..

Brilliant - well done King Snail:D
Had another recce round the race route on Tuesday….
It’s a great little run
Hopefully, there will be a major downpour and then we can have fun using the rope to cross over or even snorkle across!:D:p
Absolutely, we need some pictures of the crossing.
How about my favorite one

Shows how dangerous it is in them thar mountains....! :p
Cracking work Kingsnail. I wonder could this mean that after 2 years of trying to register as a Vet 40 that it might actually happen. Not that it really matters I suppose - the Trunce is that sort of a race. How about a sweep stake or prediction to the nearest re number of starters for Trunce 1...... Get thee pencil sharpened Plumbum.
