Just wondered if anyone has seen any results on this?
Chris, I'm reliably informed that they will be here:
http://www.ldwa.org.uk/lgt/index.php?c=25
Eventually !!!
I've been sent a copy of the results. The file is too large to attach here. I can e-mail a copy to interested parties.
Anyone planning a reccy of the above?
Just got my entry to the 'event'. Hadn't thought about a recce. Haven't recced any LDWA's before. I would but you would find me way to slow!!!
Anyone know what the route's like?
I hope to be doing it. Just had 12 weeks off (seasonal cold, seasonal can't be @rseditis and seasonal calf injury). We're on Penny Pot Lane if you want to see a map, but it's Swinsty, Fewston, Thruscross, Rocking Hall, Bolton Abbey, Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill, Timble and Swinsty. Mainly trail and a boggy stretch over Round Hill.
If you want to recce then the bits you could go astray on are Bolton Abbey to Beamsley and Round Hill to Swinsty, though you'd have to try fairly hard to get lost.
good low key event, watch for the fast start.
food stations nice too.
recce the last 3 miles to get the best line through the wood and up the fields.
when i did it i was under impression the last mile was on road, only to find you were allowed to use the path that cut it out.
i'm tempted by this one.
just found this link to the route description:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/yorkshire...es_moor_25.htm
That's the old route in a clockwise direction. It goes t'other way round now. It's almost the same route with an additional self-clip CP near Bolton Abbey.
Last year's thread:
http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...es-25-28-March
And last year's route:
Re: Blubberhouses 25
OK, abridged route description. Your fault if you get lost.
Start 207531, go N on road 400m, 1st road L downhill to lane on L, turn L to dam. CP1 194528. Go N to car park, cross road, path along edge of reservoir to Blubberhouses car park. Go up steps on R, cross busy A59 go down steps on E of river. Path upstream for 1.3 miles, river on L. Cross bridge, head for LH side of dam. CP2 155574 leave car park, go L 400 to T junc, R 400 to next junc, turn L uphill to 145570. Turn R to Spittle Ings Ho and bear R to Rocking Hall CP3 111579. Go SW on good track to Bolton Park Fm and down road to wooden br. Do not cross br, turn L on Dales Way. Cross ford, leave road after 30m R back on to Dales Way. Stay high till gate. Stay high along wall on L to CP4 076542 (s/c). Go L uphill to Storiths CP5 081543. Take FP to SE heading to Deerstones, several stiles. Cross fast A59 to CP6 088531 refreshments. Steep drop down and over footbr, up to Ling Chapel Farm, bear half R on FP over moor to CP7 092522. Leave road, wall on R to hit main track up to trig pt on Beamsley Beacon. On NE to Round Hill. Then ESE thru bog to standing stone at 134530 and past corner of wood at 150525 to Ellacarr Pike. L on track to CP8 165529. Track and road E to Timble. In Timble go R at map board. After Highfield Farm bear L on FP heading for wood and blue Yorks Water sign. Fiddly bit in woods to emerge at CP1. Same way back over dam to finish 207531. (Some use the FP E to Bland Hill, shorter but lots of stiles and legs not happy)
It's laid on for walkers, up to 10 hours, so why not do it with everyone else and have the food for £7? The bog (Thatch Ling, clue in the name) is only 50 yards and can be very amusing if you put your feet on the wrong sedge.
I know all about that bog: nearly drowned in it once. Have also done the event, the food on the way round was meagre, but the management has changed since then. Can't do it this year as I've entered for the Baildon Boundary Way the weekend after and it would interfere with (wreck) my taper. And as I'm worried I won't get round the BBW in under 3 hours, yes, I do need to taper. Maybe next year.
Are there many forumites partaking in this fine event on Sunday? Wish I was fit enough to trot round as it is a cracking route and a well organised event. It takes the p#ss out of road race entry fees and throws in a couple of jovially manned food stations to boot.
I will be up the hill at the back of Derby Tup's house after CP7 to take a few pics - by then it's almost downhill all the way.......................
I'll not be around Ady for Blubberhouses, or we could have met up
Thought I might have see you this evening. I was over at Liver Hill
Yep. It's local to me. Will be my 4th LDWA 25 miler in recent months - cheap and cheerful way to motivate myself to do the distance before I go longer
Recced part of the route at the weekend and the bogs were relatively dry but the rain due this week may change all that!
I'm sort of running Blubberhouses. Missed 3 months of training with an injury, but bimbled round the Edale Skyline on Sunday to get back into the groove. I won't be doing 3:39 this year, but about 4 hours would be fine.
sounds fast to me.
How does it compare to Anglezarke Amble?
I will be there for this one looking forward to the route, hope its as good as the Trollers Trot!:)
Karen - they're pretty similar. Less road in Blubberhouses. Can be busy with touraids in Bolton Abbey if it's a nice day. Food ok.
sadly cant do as working.
very little in way of fell, mainy very good tracks
only rea climb is beamsley, but thats part road.
imagine with past few weeks of dry weather the bogs will be dry,
reckon you coud get away with strong road shoes.
The bogs coming off Round Hill are never dry, they just vary in how deep!! My feet still got wet last weekend.
Been relatively dry the last mont or so - right up until this week so may be boggier again.
I think the real issue this weekend is going to be the high winds!!
Last year was windy too. The route is sheltered all the way up to Thruscross, then very exposed over Rocking Hall moor to Bolton Abbey and you get a lovely tailwind all the way home from Beamsley Beacon.
hi all does anyone have the postal address or post code for the hall/start for a sat nav to save the map fumbling and driving act in morning, thanks
Hang a right off the A59 after the huge white golf ball thingies (if heading towards Harrogate) and continue for about 4 miles and you will stumble across lots of parked cars near the hall which will be on your left..............
Or HG3 1TB if the above doesn't help
thanks ady most helpfull , did it 3 or 4 years ago and remember parking down the lane. see some of you there :-)
Give us a smile up Beamsley Beacon - I'll be the one holding the camera :D
Have a good day, I would rather be running it again rather that poncing about with the camera!!
I'll be there again this year. Was my first race of this sort of distance last year, and really enjoyed it. My aim is to see if I can knock some time off last years time. And at least at this LDWA is won't have to rely on other people as I know the route for this one :D Might see a few people there but most likely won't recognise anyone.
Well, I had a cracking vantage point lazing around on Beamsley Beacon with my flask and camera. Apologies to the leader at this point as due to a couple of technical issues you were both blurred and way underexposed...............sorry!
Anyway, pics are online now at Sportsunday and below is a pic of Mr P from Tod Harriers:

Fantastic route today and a really well organised and catered event. Thanks to all the organisers for a job well done. Thanks too to all the friendly people I chatted with en route and at the end, always makes these events a pleasure to enter. :D
Hope the guy who smashed his face up a bit - with a cadburys creme egg size lump on his head and bloody nose - is ok. Well done for finishing despite the injury.
Ady you're a cruel man taking photo's near the top of a long climb!! Would have loved to have run for the camera but my legs didn't think it was a good idea!!
'Twas a grand day out, many thanks. Very dry, apart from Thatch Ling, and nowhere like as windy as last year. Just soaking up half a gallon or so of home brew to re-hydrate.
Thanks for the photos, Ady. I was going so slow you got three of me.
Well done to Chevinbytorchlight for finishing first  (Just seen your FB update).
Really well run event today, congrats to the organisers for the great weather and ground conditions!!
Ady - it was me leading up Beamsley. Gutted the photo didn't turn out as I was intending that to be my present to myself in lieu of a prize...but never mind. Good to meet you and thanlks for the encouragement.
1st time doing this one and i'll be back for more, CP's were really well manned (and stocked), really well done to all involved in putting it on!
A first for me to . Loved it, except perhaps the last 2 miles when I struggled to hold it together. Great organisation and lovely route. Thanks for waiting til I was jogging again before you took the photo Ady and gald the weather was good to you.
