Hi- despite googling, the only comprehensive list of results for the Stride I can see is for 2008. Does anyone know of definitive results for earlier in the decade ?
Cheers !
Seeing as a Rombalds Stride thread has magically appeared just when I was thinking about it, is there anywhere I can see a copy of the route - specifically the bits around Menston and the Chevin, as I've not run over that way?
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/yorkshire...lds_stride.htm this might help although the route changed slightly a couple of years ago
Incidentally, this web-site is a really useful resource for long distance challenge event details :)
Cheers DT, unfortunately this work PC won't let me access that site for some reason! I'm interwebless at home at the moment, so I'll just have to wait. hey ho.
That's brilliant- thanks very much Rombald- if you could do 2004- 2007 that would be even better !
PB,
There's a full written route description sent to you when you enter. However, I didn't go too far off route last year (despite the visibility), and my Garmin trace is visible here (if your work PC lets you).
The spikes on the speed graph will mainly be where I stopped for cake.
Just got my confirmation through for 2011. Looking forward to it already. Hope to see the friendly walkers who tried to send me & my brother-in-law the wrong way. I may have something for them.
Dino, who the heck did you remember that ?? Yes, he's Toni Melechi ! Hopefully catch up with you again. Visibility certainly can't be any worse that last year !
DinoF, I managed to get a look at your garmin printout, so cheers for that. I've got a route description in front of me, I got the impression from that that the route went straight down the rough road towards Ilkley from the aerials. Hope not, yours is a nicer route! Are they taking entries already?
PB
They changed the route a couple of years ago to take in more of Ilkley Moor and less of Otley Chevin - the new run out to the Swastika Stone is fun, with a great descent (better than down the road from Whetstone Gate anyway).
I think they probably are taking entries - must get mine in soon.
So the new route goes out towards the Buckstones, over the bouncy bog and down to the moor edge, before heading back east towards the Swastika stone? Nice, I like that bit.
It can be avoided, if you stick to the wall edge and then head north again about 100 yards further along, just before the wall starts to rise.
...but where's the fun in that, eh?!
Where can I find an entry form/details for this?
I was just investigating this myself. Initial details are on the LDWA site here. I've just emailed the organiser for an entry form, which I did last year as well. I would attach the file onto this thread when I get it, but I don't think it's possible is it?
If I'm not mistaken, it says on the LDWA site that a Standard Entry Form will be accepted, which can also be found on the website.
I got mine off the LBT forum site here:
http://lbt.org.uk/CMS/Forum/tabid/62...s/Default.aspx
I entered a few weeks back. Got my race number/confirmation through a couple of weeks back. Can't wait, it's a cracker on my doorstep !
I got the entry form and entered this morning. It is a cracker of an event. I have to pay my yearly pilgrimage to the bouncy crust on the new section.
On their Standard Entry Form, it asks for your LDWA number and group - does that mean if I'm NOT a member I just leave it blank, or do I have do enter on some other form?
Cheers TF, will do. Looking forward to it, even though I've not done it before. I know the Ilkley Moor/Burley Woodhead bits, but not the CHevin/Guiseley end. I feel a recce coming on!
The climb up The Chevin towards the end is always fun !
I noticed a rather alarming get-together of contour lines around there, just before the end of the event.
...Are you absolutely sure it's 'fun'?!:o
...but that last gasp of physical exertion will have banished any last vestige of appetite that you may have had, and probably made you want to throw up, so the cake will go on the marshals' waistlines instead. :p
Let's hope the clag's not down as per last year ! People were heading off & appearing in all directions !
That's exactly the spot me & my brother-in-law got wrong ! I think we went too low, only to have to climb back up to the Millenium Way path !
Well, my entry form has gone off now; given that it's still about 6 weeks away, what kind of distances should I be running on a 'long' run at the moment, bearing in mind that I'll be building them up each week? (or running with the odd walk break?)
Hi..Could you post up the grid refs for the 2011 race please..entry going in but would like to do a few recce runs over christmas and doubt the info will come back before the New year now.

It's a cracking run Craig !!

I'm hoping to do this one as well, should be fun
