You doing the Wensleydale Wedge Socks??
Met another fell Pony at Saltergate. Lovely course and quite bizarre with the World war 2 re-enaction weekend in the area and at Levisham Station, odd to see a Nazi Commandant when you turn a corner drenched in sweat.
Yes I've entered Wensleydale Wedge. Not going to do Tour of Pendle the day before this year, so am hoping to finish! AJF - will speak to you soon (but not en route to work!)
Hi ratfink,
I've entered Burley Bridge Hike. It'll be a first time for me.
Hi Graeme,
Did you make it to Autumn in Lakeland last Saturday? How did your run go? I asked one bloke if he was Graeme from the forum. He wasn't of course.
It certainly was a glorious day up there (it always is for this event) with lots of stream running this year.
Well I was up there all weekend, however I was ill, Friday night, Saturday morning so decided against it. Spent the day with the wife and the dog, which was nice.
I'm entered into Burley Bridge so I might see you there!
ooh burley bridge - i haven't entered - should it be ok to enter on the day?
Graeme,
Sorry you weren't well last weekend but glad you were up there to enjoy the sunshine anyway. I'll catch up with you at Burley Bridge.
ratfink,
Yes, you can enter on the day but I always think it's kinder to the organisers if you can enter in advance if you know you're going to do it. Here's the LDWA link for the event:

Socks,
Sorry I won't get to catch up with you again. It seems your and my events continue to be mutually opposed.
Hi Chris,
Do you have a BBH Tracklogs file? Is a map desirable or is the route description good enough to get me round?
chris brown - i pm'd you a begging letter for your route map but your pm box is full!
gonna try get tuesday off for a bit of a reccy.
Hi Ratfink
Let me have you email address and i'll send the route map, i've sorted my inbox now
Cheers
Thinking about recceing some of burley bridge next weekend, (25/26th?) if anyone's interested.
Burley Bridge Hike
Thought might be worth mentioning if any one thinking of doing part recce's - the tricky bit (in my opinion) is cp 2 to 3, the path disapears adn you are left looking for styles - suggest use the text directions over this, although it is early in the race so you should have other runners with you. Rest of it is very good paths. I dont know how they make it 20miles, i've check it on the map a few times and make it not less than 23miles!
Let me know if you want a map
You're totally right about the navigation between cp's 2 and 3 Chris, the first time I went over that bit I didn't bother looking at the route notes and just 'followed my nose' - ended up way off course clambering over barbed wire fences etc. Do what it says on the directions and it's easy though. Nice to know it's a bit more than the given distance - certainly felt like it when I went over the route last weekend!
Anybody doing the Bottoms Up this sat?
I'm doing the Irregulars this Sat. Quite excited as I've persuaded the tribe to come too. They're going to do the shortest loop, Ollie running with me (after I've done one of the other loops).
No, its a bastrad, the woman organising the event emailed me the route description's but its so vague and complicated.
Ive tried plotting the route on a map ive made but i duno where it goes after 6 miles.
If you decide to do it, find me on the day and we'll get lost together haha
Bottoms Up! isn't that bad using the route description, from what I can recall. I did it for many years on the trot until I discovered the Snowdonia Marathon
I just ran half of the Bottoms Up....expect to get very muddy if anybody's doing it.
Oh and i emailed the organiser because i came to a footpath that is cancelled until Feb 09. So im waiting for her reply as to whether she knows about this and any route changes.
For those of you who are ldwa members, if you go on their forum (Bothy section) a thread has just been started regards the OMM - first post is not entirely complementary of it going ahead, in fact it's a bit of a classic . I have started the replies, but if anyone else wishes to join in - especially if you were competing ........... please feel free to help out :)
I've just read it Moley and decided to come on here for some sanity!
I'm pleased to report a great success on Saturday at the Irregulars, Black Brook. I did the medium loop on my own and then the short loop with Ollie. He didn't complain too much about me going too slow so that was good. Hubby and girls walked the short loop. And they enjoyed it. Bit windy in parts, but we finished before any really bad rain came. brill!
Glad you enjoyed it, Socks. I did all the loops last year and thought it was great. I liked the long loop best though.
I didn't know the area and I had no idea where I was going at any point and simply followed the (pages of) instructions. They were so accurate that I never got lost once, which is a real tribute to the organizers.
A few Ambleside AC-ers are doing Wensleydale Wedge (23 mile) on 16th November.
Any tips/points of interest for an LDWA virgin?
It is fairly easy to find your way - on big wide track most of the time. It was a white out last year on the tops - couldn't see a thing!
Entries for the 2009 ldwa 100 are now open: http://www.wessex100.org.uk/cgi-bin/entries.pl
for anyone interested. Note that entry fee is £18.00 more for non ldwa members, but ldwa membership is only £13.00 ;). If that doesn't encourage a few to join, they can't be that bright .
Just tried to get on to the website to enter and it won't let me onto the site. Is it trying to tell me something?
Anyone else doing The Scarborough Rock?
