I've just received details http://www.fellrunner.org.uk/races.php?id=2105 for the High Cup Nick race which is on Feb. 25th and is not included in the printed FRA Calendar.

Bah - falls on the same day as Bleasdale again this yr ... I really enjoyed that last yr, but this one looks really decent too. Hmm which one to do
Guess I could do Fiendsdale instead of Bleasdale but thats the same wkend as Heptonstall .... decisions decisions
just bumping this up. only 2 days away.
I'm bringing at least 2 in my car with me, weather looking ok at the moment, no snow to clamber up the final slope...
any one know how wet the valley is?
im dragging a fell running newcomer along!! Not a bad one to start with, only 1 short steep climb! or am I forgetting how hard the run up to the nick really was? I found the trickiest bit was trying to run at speed over the small section of duck boards about 2mile in, don't know how I stayed upright last year!! Looking forward to this one again, not in great shape but if I can avoid going astray in the boulder field this year I might be alright :) come and say hello anyone who is going along, think i'll be wearing a yellow nike vest, oh and ive got a baldy napper :p
Could be making my Debut for Keswick AC on this one if my foots ok, aint ran since Nine Standards on New years day. Should be four of us traveling down from Wigton & Carlisle. Three quite new Keswick AC Members. I will have the Camera just incace i back out.
One of my club-mates was heading up to this, but @ (circa) 13:00 was stuck in queuing traffic on the A66.
He could see Cross Fell in the distance, but wasn't going anywhere at all, his presumption was a RTC causing the hold-up
Would just like to thank the organisers of this race. Extremely well marshalled and marked (particularly pertinent for a back of the pack kind of runner like me!) ...the marshalls must have been nithered hanging around on the tops!...... fantastic reception in dufton village hall where locals make you feel very welcome with soup and bread post race plus the fab cake stall! oh and i also like the way that the 171st runner received a prize too so that all members of the field were appreciated! :-)
a short report - a few photos (of the prizegiving and cake eating) and top twenty results

thanks Morgz!
It was a portacabin that had fallen off wagon! luckily we set off early so it didn't cause us any problems.
My second running of this race and can I say.....
WHY IS THIS ROUTE NOT A CHAMPS RACE.
I can honestly say that this is one of the awe inspiring, pretty, stunning routes in the calender, 2 hours there, 2 hours back for 1.15 of racing, If you have never been there or done this race guys put this at the top, the very top of your list you will not regret it.
Good running all the way with a fantastic descent.,
Thankz to Morgz and his team and the cake ladies. the soup was good and the cakes deserve 3*
I'll always travel for this race.
Good to see Stolly and meet Hes, Freckle were you sat next to Hes at the end?
A very fast time for Carl and Helen
Excellent race again - organisation and marshalling great, and apart from first few seconds after topping out when trying to get legs back, a great descent.
Wondering if anyone found a Montane Featherlite XL jacket - tucked it underwheel arch of mates car before the start and forgot to get it out at the end - needless to say it wasn't there when we got home. Hoping it fell out as we set off. We were parked just up from the toilets on the corner.
This is the Acky club mate, made it through in good time despite the accident on the A66,stunning race as per usual, one of my faves, weather held up again this year.Beat last years time by 4 mins and thats with stopping to take a multitude of photos which can be accessed on my facebook.Attachment 5767Attachment 5771Attachment 5768Attachment 5769Attachment 5770

Thanks to everyone that visited Dufton yesterday. This race is the main fund raiser for our village hall and the whole village really appreciate your efforts. I managed to coerce most of the marshalls into the pub to defrost. We will get full results up as soon as we can but it takes along time to type them up. Hope to see you all again next year - last Saturday in February. Cheers, Morgz et al
just to echo everyone's thanks to the people involved with making this great race happen :) thoroughly enjoyable route in breathtaking scenery, and I didnt go astray in the boulder field this year :) managed to knock 3 mins off last years time, ducked under 1hr10 but still couldn't get near the top 10, some cracking runners out yesterday :) Id have said hello freckle if id have noticed you, you must have been running close to my friend who I travelled over with, as she finished around about the position you did, and I must have just missed you IDP
Frustrated. 1.23.45 in 2008. Usually been around 1.30 since, consistent structured training for the last 4 months over the winter, seemed to be going well, took me 1.44 or so this year. It didn't feel as though I was moving slowly, ran all the way to the final climb, good descent passing people on the way down, where did the extra 20 minutes come from during a comparatively short race?????
Fristrated of CFR - too many holidays !
sorry i didn't get chance to say hi...i did think i saw you but wasn't entirely sure and as I was strung out with nerves didn't pluck up the courage to say hi to both you and IDP who i think was sitting next to us at the end...i reall enjoyed the race would just like to be an incy wince faster not sure how I will acheive that tho! I bet you had a good race! :-) i am not sure who your friend is will look at results when they are out...there was a nice girl who finished just behind me who was very positive throughout
A fantastic race, especially the 5 mile sprint at the end :). Going straight up the middle of the Nick was spectacular too. 1 hour 20 for me which I was really pleased with.
I would also like to add my thanks to the organisers for this most excellent of races. I only added this as a club counter when Noonestones got cancelled. So every cloud...etc;)
Really enjoyed the downhill and the sprint finish was bazzin'. Will defo be in the calendar again next year!

i've got a copy of the results - tried to post them here but there are too many characters (?)( must be you Ian DP and Stolly!!)
so I've chucked them in an FRB article - although they have gone rather strange they are legible.

Thats cheered me up - 10 minutes faster than I thought so only 10 minutes slower than my best and it came right at the end of a solid week of hard training. Plus I had a very nice run round Coledale today, sunny spells and great views in and out of the clouds.
Great race, definitely worth the trip up from Holmfirth. We must try and bring a larger raiding party next year.
Hadn't realised quite how grim I must have looked at the finish. It was only when I looked at the results that I saw that I'd been listed as a V40 bloke (just for the record, I'm neither).:)
