Agreed TT. The FlagMan, Pete Metcalfe (Wharfedale Harriers), has been racing on the fells for 30 or more years. When he's injured/unfit he always helps out with marshalling and flagging. A reet good bloke and a real Fell Hero!

enough said, he's a star!
Arant Haw this w/e, 1550' of Howgill majesty. Just so i know where i'm going, is it follow the bridleway through the farm and below Winder?
Thats right yeah, left at the farm follow a grassy track until a steep descent to the beck bottom... then a big climb up once you reach the top follow the ridge round clock wise, not much climbing from here onwards just a few humps and bumps, then a lovely steep descent to the farm and back on the road. I would say your pretty close with ascent distane wise i would say 4.5-5 miles. see ya there!
Hi, When are the final position for the league tables going to be published?
On another note, the grid ref for Austwick just shows the location of the village, not the actual start of the race. I know of two families who couldn't find it and therefore missed running and I nearly missed it too! Can it be corrected for next year?
Otherwise can I just say how much I've so thouroughly enjoyed this year's Winter League, even if on most weeks it took me til Wednesday before I could walk downstairs without wincing!
I've not done the results this year but I assume they will be out after the presentation on Sunday at Sedbergh.
Sorry to hear there was a problem with the GR for Austwick. It has been like that for about 5 years so congratulations on being the first to spot it and mention it. The link to the map was actually right! I'll put it right for next year.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on Sunday. It is another cracking race. Your legs will thank you!
In the quiet words of the virgin Mary...come again?
Follow the grassy track up to the saddle between Winder and Arant Haw, then drop to Crosdale beck? Come back around clockwise to Arant Haw trig as per Sedbergh Hills route in reverse? Or is it left at the farm to Crosdale wood and round that way?
