Next weeks bike ride is going to be a two hour hill around High Peak with non other than our own Christopher Leigh, should be interesting :p
So there is no hope for Daz's crank bearings :D
Had a FANTASTIC ide yesterday :) About 5 kms in I suddenly had two blokes on my wheel... one said: don't go any faster or we won't be able to keep up with you... After a bit one of them took the front and the other pulled up allongside me and we had a little chat. They were also out for about 3 hours and had only just started their ride, so they took me on the most fantastically scenic ride!
Lots of nice climbs, fantastic views, past castles and abbeys it was amazing! Beautiful crisp clear day... Well cold though, with snow and ice on the higher bits... Exactly 3 hours of good, hard riding in a brilliant landscape in good company :) Felt the legs in the end, so good training too!
Funnily enough, halfway into the ride they admitted to how they came to sit on my wheel... They had spotted me in the distance once they joined the road I was one and had an argument over wether I was a bloke or a girl... As in: it has a ponytail, got to be a girl... Nah, there are so many young blkes with long hair these days, women don't ride like that... Yeah, but look at her figure... Nah, could be a skinny bloke... he/she is too fast and has too blokey a riding style to be a woman... So they had to catch up to find out LOL
Going on their clubrun on Sunday :)
Direct him back to the forum. How can we debate the impending election without his interesting insights? Currently it's being left to TH and WP to provide amusing side arguments. But the complexities of pensions is a bit dull next to arguments such as the moral degeneration of modern society, or drug taking in all forms of sport.
Thats not very complimentary, Han.
Just had an email to say my new frame has arrived at Wheelbase and i can collect the bike Friday lunchtime
yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
59 minutes and 58 seconds for my 14.8 mile time trial. 1200" of climb.
First time this year under the hour. Really pleased.:)
Well done Trevor
40miles for me last night. new gearing , very nice. It was a lovely dry night, no wind.
Lots of climbing on my hilly loops.
Then in true bikie style I started to shave my legs but the razor conked out.:(.
The shame of it.
Oh by the way does anyone know wherabouts you can get those little electric shavers from ( Emm, Hann ??)
not telling what area I need that for but its delicate.
Taped paris-nice and watched it last night. Contador showing the rest of the peloton how to climb to take the yellow jersey.
Talk about fast and its only March. Wonder if Lance was watching
Daz, I bet Lance was watching...
No idea about electric razors, I use a proper and shaving oil...
Lovely 2 hour ride on Wednesday, took in the longest continuous climb in the Netherlands, which, apparently, is alos the hardest, then rode another climb up to the highest point in the Netherlands, where I managed to park my bike simultaneously in Holland, Blegium and Germany :) Nice blast back home on a relatively flat route :)
Off in a minute for another two hours before work... It is raining today, but still taking in three climbs. Better watch those descents...
Took the sensible option this morning, as I was tired from 12 hours solid working yesterday ANd it was drizzling snow... so a two hour ride over some cols became a one hour easy ride into work. Which was fortuitous, as I got absorbed into the Skil team out training :):):)
30 mile 3500 ft got beasted by Mounsey and the Ugly Elf and made a compete numpty of myself.
Pulled up at a junction behind a motorbike and a car, thought I would be smart and nip down the left of them, unclipped the left foot, needed one more turn of the pedal rested the foot on the pedal. Stopped at the give way line and TIMBER (had reclipped):o
Blonde bird in the car was laughing, so were my two buddies:o
Got up, reclipped again and got on with the ride.
Pride took a massive dent:o
You'll have to practice track stands Stagger to save unclipping - although they can sometime have the same sort of ending
I do think toe clips took more getting used to and ended up with more falls, especially when you were proper tightened in - a little ankle twist on the new generation is a breeze (most of the time).
We have all had the 'toppling over while clipped in in an embarassing and ego bruising manner' Stagger :)
Had an amazing ride this am, on the clubrun with a local cycling club... did 100 kms in just over 3 hours... as they dragged me along with their A group. Apparently, I am the first person and most definitely the very first woman to have survived this unscathed, as they really rip your legs off if you go with them for the first time AND with the fast group LOL!
Serious cyclists, but also very social and lots of fun :)
Recovery ride yesterday was a revelation... It was actually quite hard to ride so slowly that the HR was below 130... so pottered around at 24.4 km/hr average for about an hour.
This morning I rode nice and steady, took in a couple of decent climbs.. about 45 kms in 1.45 hrs :) Bit cold and misereably wet, but feeling good. Base building going quite well :)
Today was much sunnier and warmer in East Lancs than the Yorkshire Dales! Got my Dales fix in this morning, around 65 miles up to Horton-In-Ribblesdale. 2 of us came back via Settle and pushed hard all the way back to Read where we went our separate ways. No stats, still on the winter iron with clean bars.
Did a ride with Christopher Leigh yesterday or was it Graeme Obree, he chose not to put his 67 tooth chain ring that he had had specially made on for the ride. I will will reserve my right to cast judgement at this present time, I have directed him back to the forum an we're out again next week (he is a much nicer character in person). :p
I have a rest dau today and it is all lovely and warm and sunny :(
