Points updated after Sedbergh 3 Peaks.
Lloyd Taggart was top scorer again (22), just ahead of Pippa Maddams (21) and Tim Davies (21).
My Footloose Four were the top scoring team (43) :D, followed by the Kinky Foursome (42).
No L-Plates moved up the most places, from 24th to 21st in the Kaliber league, where we have a new league leader: BGS's Blinders.
As always, please let me know if you spot any mistakes - I got a bit behind in updating the teams, so I may well have missed a substitution.
The next counter will be lakeland classic Wasdale, 10th July.

No change to the rules: post your team for this round of the cup before the start of the race. ;)
Bill, thanks as ever for organising this!
The reason I changed my team late on Saturday was that the group of forumites who choose the team I was against picked the same guest runners as I had. As they have extra pintage anyway from being in a higher league it made it more or less impossible for me to win irrespective of who I chose. For regular league fixtures this is obviously not a problem but for one-off cup ties it makes the virtual fell-side even steeper for sides from lower leagues. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about this, or even a desire to, but it's perhaps something to think about :)
Hi DT,
Yes, teams from a higher league should win, because they've had more pints to choose their original team. But (much like a sports cup) that's part of the attraction - it makes it all the more rewarding when you knock out a team from a higher league than you. In fact last year's cup winners, Go Go Gadget, were in the Kaliber league at the time.
When I set it up I knew that one tactic would be, if you were confident in your 2 league team runners, to select the same guests as your opponent. The counter-tactic would be not to reveal your team until late - make your opponent blink first. And that's also why I've said that you can change team as often as you like before the final deadline. You could set up a bluff team, your opponent could select the same guest runners, and then you could change your entire team at the last moment.
Bad Magners appeared to select an entire bluff league team this year... and then kept with it! I'm not sure if that was a double-bluff, or not. ;)
Using the start of the race as the deadline always seemed like the most fun - the starters gun would signal final bets, and it allowed the excitement of really late changes. But the dual starts at Sedbergh were a complication! For future reference: the first start of any race with multiple starts will be the deadline.
And I've never had any texts or other team entry method from the start field of a race - nor would I accept any. Teams must be posted on this thread to count.
But the bottom line is - I hope you enjoy it. I enjoy setting it up and running it. If this ever became serious it would be the death-knell for the competition. :o
Cheers, Bill
PS: I specifically selected a team that would be strong in the cup this year - the 2 best runners I could, who I would hope to select in each cup round, and two 1 pinters. Though in the end it hasn't worked out that I've selected those 2 runners in the cup!
I enjoy it immensly and I have no real interest or connection with Championship races. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I think this was a really good resolution bill and very fair - you read my tactics exactly - My cup team for sedbergh from day one was always lloyd, lauren, pippa and ian holmes - this team would have beaten the team tup hands down -but i held off posting as i wanted to see what derby's team was - however when derby posted his team - i realised our two lloyds would cancel each other out, pippa and ian could score more or less the same as rob hope and rob jebb but my lauren would beat his mike robinson. i spent all friday evening deliberating over this - (aided by my pre race curry and pints of lal tufan) and thought what if ian doesnt turn up............so i did the dishonest thing and decided to match derby's team exactly leaving the race of two mikes (fanning and robinson) to decide it for us. I was pretty sure mike F would beat mike r - however had mike r had been at the race he too would have scored the same one solitary point that mike f scored - simply for turning up so it would have been a draw! so a late change by derby unmatched by me left me stumped! i felt gazumped - but realised it was just a taste of my own medicine and serves me right for trying to play dirty! so roll on wasdale where i am going to beat derby tup's team fair and square! no offence derby!!!
The second I saw your team Another Team, I knew what you'd done and why. I then noticed that Inov-8 Insider had dropped Rob Jebb and guessed he had some pre-race info so followed suit. I suspect all I've done is delay the inevitable but you never know. I'll have more important things on my mind leading up to Wasdale anyway ;)
