If you don't have the nav skills for this one, you just phone a friend.
Re: Edale Skyline 30/3/08
And why does it matter what colour it is?

No phone call yet
2 recces so far. The first in freezing fog, couldn't see a thing and all the paths were totally iced over. The 2nd today & we got snow, wind, fog & ice. It was crazy up there. Enjoyed both though, must've been the company ;) . Sorry to have missed you IDP

Matt If you don't know the course I would stay away Or contact Andy and Marshal the first year(Like I did) or get out there with a map a recce recce recce. esp the bit from Mam Nick to the End, I know 'Skyline' had a wonder in the first half a few years a go but that shouldn't happen.

Typical Skyline weather then. Maybe next time T&C. Post it on Recces the day before you go out.
Vodaphone is pretty good all the way round, Not sure about any of the others.

Don't worry Geoff we knew where we were going.
We were on the path climbing from the path above Jacob's Ladder, passing to the right of Swine's Back.
Mobile signal was good. Linda's sister rang as well - to ask her to get her a bag from the factory shop!

Just to back Ian up, you definitely need to know where you're going in this one, it is very tough especially if the weather is grumpy.
There are dozens of more suitable races in the area and with a few reccies you'll be ready for next year.

Depends what you mean by 'skills'.
Most of us can't find our way very well but can just about navigate our way off the fell if need be.
Re: Edale Skyline 30/3/08
Matt,
If you can get round and are content to shadow someone then I'm sure that you'll be grand (Im not sure the organisers will appreciate me saying this mind). Just beware that Jacob's ladder is probably the last real point to abandon, and that there may not be tents available this year for those of a hypothermic condition.
