Finding a demolition site and running across broken bricks and rubble might help with preparations for Scafell Pike!:w00t:

Nothing would help with that. The scree slope was the easiest bit of the race, the rest was very unforgiving!

Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
It wasn't that bad! The run from Bessyboot to Eskhause was nice and I really like the corridor route. I enjoyed the slate mine too (love the tinkle of the slates, like music) and to be honest, I thought Dalehead wasn't as bad as some people make out (although it is interminably long) but that's probably because I took it quite easy earlier on due to being worried about getting round. Having said that, I was totally knackered at the end. Will see how I get on next time when I push it a bit more.

You're right actually. My battered feet keep tainting my memories....

Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
Find someone who doesn't mind you gassing at them (not Jacks Lee though, she was expecting full conversation going up Bessyboot!), makes it all much easier.

Almost 6 hours of running(???) condensed into a tad short of 13 minutes. Turn up the volume. Best not watched on 'full screen' as it gets a bit pixelated...

Fantastic Wharfee, you've really brightened up my lunchtime with that :D though my legs are trembling slightly at the reminder of the slog up Dale Head... think this one is going to have to be bookmarked into my running inspiration pages. Beautiful photos

Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
gutted that I cant do the race, because I havent done any long races, do these not include, LDWA runs or D&W MM events?
-
Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
If you think you've got the experience and fitness to run just fill out the form or call the R.O. Sounds like you're more than qualified. Though I'd recommend a recce of Glaramara section, assuming you don't know it already!!

Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
Might be worth getting an entry in sooner rather than later as its the 40th anniversary race this year with a souvenir T-shirt up for grabs. Could be popular!

Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
Will someone be good enough to post split times for the various checkpoints based on a 15:25 (ie 5 mins to spare) arrival at Honister. I need to know what times I should be aiming for as this will be my 4th start and I would like to complete the goddam race - I want to wear the 40th anniversary t shirt with a studied nonchalance when I'm shopping in Sainsbury's
I may have asked this question previously but frankly life's short enough as it is without having to trawl through 200 n odd pages.
-
Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012
Alf suggested this last year.

Honister 15:29 pm
Give or take a minute or two :D

I was doing that the other day in my 25th anniversary t shirt (which still survives!) though I was in Aldi .
Does that make me a 'has been', or a vintage archetype...?

I'm trying to find out myself. I can't find any contact details on the website and the only instructions are that there won't be any entries on the day. I have an entry but am no longer able to make it. Not sure whether there is a reserve list. If so, I have an entry available.

Hey manhar, I will be there for my 2nd attempt at this one. While I did actually complete it 5 yrs ago, I got lost coming off great gable and it took me 5:20 so will be trying to knock 15 or so mins off that and if I do, I will be well chuffed (providing I don't get lost again :)
