I have to admit I thought you lot were joking about the dripping sandwiches until I saw it on the menu! I don't think I have ever had a dripping sandwich, looking forward to it - see you all then.

But they don't provide Kendal Mint Cake. Just about everything else edible, plus Stollen and dripping sandwiches, but no mint cake. I have to carry my own, which probably loses me a few vital seconds due to the extra weight. Grumble grumble grrr... [wanders off into the undergrowth...]
this is worrying- I did this race last year and have no recollection of either stollen which I love or dripping sanries which I quite like if it is slightly brown (from bacon bits) and salty. Did I just run past?
Welcome Karen to Calderdale Group of the LDWA.
You seem to have missed out previously on some of our gourmet dripping sandwiches. I have to say I prefer Marmite which gives a guaranteed all over taste whereas dripping can be a bit uneven. Not so certain about the cholestorol content of either product but you are probably not bothered about that. Both are a welcome contrast to the sweet stuff.
The sandwiches are at CP3 and a few at CP5. You need to go into Steve Gumbley's workshop at CP3 to find the food grotto where there is a toilet for retiring entrants. It is on the left of the track as you pass through the CP.
Finest grotto in the world, mmmmm marmite and dripping, there's a combo to drool over:thumbup:
Looking forward to another marvellous Hebden, cheers Alan and team :)
The food on this brilliant race, is very very good. There was a good chocolate cake I seem to recall at CP2, and as for the food grotto mentioned above, well it was like stumbling into Aladdin's Cave!
After seeing the superb checkpoint offerings a couple of years ago on a recce of the Wadsworth Trog, an entry has been put in for 2013's event! :)
