Had 2 & 1/2 pints of staggeringly good Yorkshire Blackout Stout, from Cropton Brewery, in The New Inn, Cropton, yesterday. Possibly the best stout I've tasted.
Castle Rock "Dingy Skipper" and a Burton Bridge "By George" from the usual Friday hostelry..
Been supping some spectacular ales from the Redwillow brewery over the weekend, there Wreckless drop is outstanding, right up my street :) Had some bottles of Goose Island IPA at some point of the weekend too, one of the best bottled IPA's going in my opinion. Had some good solid ale from Oakham ales brewery at some point too, Inferno and Bishops Farewll, very good
Last night I had a bottle of Wainwright, the night before I had a bottle of wainwright, the night before that I had a bottle of wainwright, the night before the night before that I had a bottle of wainwright but the night before the night before the night before that I forgot to put a wainwright in the fridge to chill so I didnt have a wainwright that night.
Two top draw ales in the rat race today Mordue X2 AND Oakham ales JHB, absolutely cracking both of them, right up my street these 2 gems
A couple we know came to stay in our B&B last Sunday, he has a brewery business in Leek (somewhere in UK?), brought us some cases of his beers to sample...........he has been invited back. :D
Some great beers were had last night. 2 pints of incredible Salamander Zombie Stalker Porter in The Flying Duck in Ilkley. Then a pint of Naylor's Black & Tan in The Crescent, which was equally impressive. Over to Bar T'at then for the ever reliable Marston's Oyster Stout & a Brewdog Tactical Nuclear Penguin "shot" at 32% !! Amazing stuff. Like alcoholic treacle flavoured port. Bit of a headache this morning.
If there was any trace of surprise in your tone there Jez, it was misplaced. Hardcore!
Pedigree (4)
IDP sent me a dozen bottles of Farmer's Pale Ale, as a wedding present. Splendid and highly quaffable at 5.0% abv. The guy's a legend
Hills and distance
We're off up the Dale tomorrow. See Littondale or Upper Wharfedale in May and you'll laugh at anyone who questions God's existence
A cracking bottle of Founders Imperial Stout in Friends Of Ham, Leeds, today, 10.5% so one was enough.
A beautiful Breakfast Oatmeal Stout from Mikkeller, Norway, whilst watching the footy tonight. Gets 100% on Ratebeer.com !
Lancaster Bomber, just nice to watch footy with.
Couple of Erdingers earlier. No football
Yorkshire Blackout now, sublime.
Supped a host of immpeccable ales up in Newcastle yesterday, PTMY in city centre is a GREAT ale house....
as we were about too leave a new beer was getting pulled through the pumps to go on, I noticed it was labelled a Polish IPA, now with my Polish links my eyes were drew too it, i'd never heard of a Polish IPA! I was intrigued, it was from Kirkstall Brewery (Leeds?) Gorgeous George, I got a sample off the barman, extremely hoppy pale ale @6.1% strong enough, nice drop though if you like your hoppy IPA's, made with Polish hops
Had 3 halves of Summer Wine Brewery Imperial Affogato Stout at 9% in Friends Of Ham, Leeds, on Saturday. Amazing stuff. And just had a belting Stringers Mutiny Double Stout at 9.3% tonight.
Popped in to a Friends Of Ham in Leeds today & had a tremendous pint of Rogue Ales Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout. £6 though ! Followed by half a Roosters Londinium Coffee Porter which was also very good if not quite cold enough.
Hey Jez, shouldn't you be at a committee meeting sorting out XC rules, or how big safety pins are needed for a 10K over the Christmas holidays? ;)
Great thanks, touch wood ! Had a great 3 Peaks (not time-wise, but felt good all the way round) & a cracking Swaledale Marathon. First time doing it & what a belting route. 18th wedding anniversary this weekend, so escaping the bedlam in Burley-In-Wharfedale & heading up to Langdale for 3 nights without the children ! Hoping to sample a few fine ales.
Forgive me fellow drinkers, it's been mostly homebrew since my last post.
Did manage a fantastic pint of Oakham Green Devil last Friday lunchtime. Super zingy fruity hop flavour and a real sharp kick of bitterness. all washes down very easily at 6%. It was at Major Tom's Social in Harrogate which is well worth checking out if you happen to be there on Saturday. It's a bit 'kooky', what with being above a retro furniture shop and having a 6x6 vinyl shop attached. Excellent range of beers too.
Three MJ plus a pint of Rudgate Bicycale
Had a bottle of Mikkeller Zest Please last night. A porter brewed with orange zest. Staggeringly good !
Mordue Summer Tyne, great session beer then later on Tyne Bank brewery, very dark ale! It actually isn't that dark, but quite tasty ;)
Grabbed half a dozen Wooden Hand Brewery Black Pearl stouts from B & M of all places the other day, £1.30(ish). Opened one last night & it was sublime !! I will be popping in more often !
