Good milage MM. Just don't go crazy. Slowly slowly catch the monkey.
I saw the sun rise traveling to work freezing my nuts off,
and
Saw the sun set traveling home from work sweating my nuts off.
285 miles for me in March to date, mainly the 18 mile to work and same back.
Quads tender after a big hill rep run on saturday. Rest for a day now.
did 40 miles yesterday with Kent Valley Road Club on the Derek Tunstall Memorial ride. Half way stop at Kentmere with coffee and cakes looking at Garbun Pass in the sunshine. Priceless, what a fantastic day!!
I may not have done much cycling the last couple of weeks, but the last 3 days in the Lakes well made up for it! Three cracking rides on MTB and road and even managed to decide which bike to use for the Fred AND get a cycling tan... 't was swelteringly hot, especially in winter gear!
Very steady today, enjoying the sunshine. From my mate's at Forton, out across the N Fylde using canal towpath, back lanes and bridleways, on the 'crossers, to the Ferry Slipway Cafe at Knott End. Returned via the sea wall and the foreshore N of Pilling then more back lanes and bridleways. Pan flat but constant pedalling, absolutely no freewheeling, 27 miles.
steady 110km on Monday on my own @ 27kph ...
and then yesterday chucked my other bike on the train down to Kent for a little pub crawl .... probably clocked up about 15-20 miles, but doesn't really count when you're drinking beer does it?
Of course it counts Zoot.
Its a recovery and social ride.
Cracking ride to work this morning now topped 300mile for March
Home again with another 28k in the bag.
Just topped 514k for March
Legs need a rest now though, increased cycling and running for the month has made them feel the effects of working on any hill.
After yesterdays enforced restday due to an uppitty van and late arrival home, I did a nice detour from the garage where I dropped the van late this afternoon. Decided I had enough, so rather tha ride into work for another hours work, I jus set off on a lovely easy ride into Llanthony Valley, over the Gospel Pass, into Hay on Wye, down the Golden Valley, Abbey Dore, Ewyas Harold and back to work to piuck up my rucksack woth house keys and jacket. The sun just set behind Hatterall Hill when I arrived, perfect! My new Garmin gives me stats: 2.48.30 hrs, 69.59 kms, 24.8 km/hr (influenced by the fact that I stopped for a chat, bringing the average speed down) I apparently burnt 767 calories, so defo need cake tonight and ascended 937 metres and descended 982. Avg HR 15 bpm... max speed 59.5 km/hr.
Not quite sure what I am going to do with all that data, sure it is good for something, but was disappointed to see that the steepest bit of Gospel Pass, which I always though was 25%, is only 21% :w00t:
