This is one weekend in a scheduled series of closures by Network Rail to work on the bridge, so you will almost certainly still need to use the alternative route.

Did a check with the Highways agency and yes as our good friend Felljunior tells us, that section of road will be closed on Sunday. Diversion signs will be in place they tell me, could possibly add 5-10 miutes to you journey.

It looks pretty cold out there and foggy close to the Leg 5 section. I hope its gone by the time the runners arrive. Wrap up well today folks.

After leg 1 Horwich lead with CV second, both went under the previous record.
