Aye, well done Trev
Well done indeed Stagger. You seem to be on a similiar start / current profile to myself. I'm going pretty okay myself.
Target was 86kg --> 75kg which I touched for 5 minutes about three months ago after coming back from a hike from Glasgow to Inverness via Fort William!!!. For the last two months I'm stable around the 76.8Kg mark.
I've been going to a "running techniques" coach for the last few weeks and I think that doing wonders for me since the improved technique is also taking more pressure of the dodgy knee.
I'll hoping to make my debut in the "Edale skyline" in the spring and like to give it a proper bash.
I am at about 73 Kg after touching my target of 70 Kg a couple of times after a long Saturday morning run!
Brilliant stuff stagger :).
Looking back over my year thus far I seem to have gone of the boil after reaching my peak of fitness (and trimness) at the end of June. Over the summer I sort of cacked up my fitness with a series of 3 BG attempts, all of which failed for various reasons <insert my list of pathetic excuses here :) >. What with tapering, carb loading and then, afterwards, feeling completely famished for a week, my diet (such as it was) went completely up the swanny. I just had to eat cake.... all the time :D.
I also felt really tired most of the time too which in itself always makes me starving hungry. Losing one complete night of sleep (while trying to run 66 miles) each month for three months on the trot, plus the best part of another night somewhere in the mix supporting MartynP on the overnight leg of his BG, coupled with my normal weekday get ups of 5:30am, all slowly chipped away at me I think. In the end September and October have been really weary (and stodgy uppy) months (October was well snotty too).
That said I'm feeling bright and sparky again now and, having weighed myself this morning, and found myself carrying 6 pounds more than necessary, I'm on it and firing things up again :)
Well done,
Although I haven't joined your group, I have dropped from 12st 1lb to 11st since christmas.
Like Shaunaneto when the mother in law comes to stay it is a nightmare at our house, mind you she is around 30st we are not exactly sure as the last time she said anything she was 27st and she has put a lot of weight on since then, the amount she consumes and her lack of activity is staggering (no pun intended). Don’t get me started.
Well done again.

Well done Stagger and well done Tahr! I'm not part of this thread normally and I don't have scales for fear of become obsessive but I have lost a few pounds and it has made quite a difference to how I feel and run.
Losing a tiny bit of weight has made me feel lighter on my feet and improved my speed. I didn't set out to lose weight but spent a month in Sweden with a different lifestyle, hillyish running most days, lots of working and less snacking. I've then been so stupidly busy since I've been home that I don't get the time to shop, cook or eat properly that often and seem to be living off of soup and the occasional baked potato with the odd nice meal at the weekend. I have no scales in the house but I no longer wince when I see photos of myself in my running gear and my wobbly bits wobble less! On Sunday I pb'd on a race in the worse conditions I've run it in and on Wednesday I did my fastest ever time trial (only by 3 seconds but it all counts) despite not doing any speed training for 8 weeks. I'm hoping I've broken my snacking habit and I'll try hard to keep cake and chips for the weekend only! I'd be interested to know what I weigh but I suspect I've only lost two or three pounds so it just shows what a difference that makes.:)
Hester you never had any wobbly bits to start with! Well done on the PB's though!
I was injured from October last year and slowly started running again in April/May. Since May I have lost 10lbs without changing my eating (or drinking) habits at all! Having said that I did comfort eat when I couldn't run! :o
Thanks for the congrat’s Hes. :o
Mountain Goatess you are doing better than me, I had to cut out drinking in the week to help get my weight down.
Me and my mate were on a training run on a Monday morning and both said we need to lose a few pounds, so we had a pack neither of us would drink until the weekend, on the Thursday I rang him “you still off the beer mate” “errr no” he replied “working away on expenses so had a couple of free ones”. I have managed to keep off it, he went back to it. One up side is I only need a couple of drinks now at the weekend to feel “happy”.:w00t:
Best of luck to you all trying to get to race weight.
Tahr
Well since my last post, I have managed to maintain my weight at 80kg, having been 95+kg in 2011, but my improvement in race times has stalled, so winter training will be used to get some more weight off steadily, aiming for 78kg by new year, and down to 76kg or 12st dead by April in time for my first marathon.
People at work keep telling me I am too thin.... bollocks, they are used to seeing too many fatties, they should get down to winter training on a Tuesday evening!!
Its goodto see this thread hasn't died a death even though Dr Pat Barry isn't putting together a table weekly, it was a difficult task. It's nice to see people still making progress.
