More seriously, given that I'm joining this race on a bit of an impulse and at the last minute (I don't even have an OS explorer map of this corner of the lakes  ), I'd welcome any tips...... from anyone..... about anything to do with it.
I've ordered the race map from Pete Bland which I should have on Monday and have the race checkpoints printed - but thats the sum total of my preparation!
if you want a serious answer Stolly then I'd say don't just rely on your Pete bland map when it comes.
If the weather is as bad as yesterday for example and you have no experience up there then please don't assume you can follow the person in front.
look down to check your footing look up and your lead has GONE - honest!
Get your OS maps, gets your coordinates, use your compass and don't rely on the person in front -you never know it maybe his/her first time too ;)
Just done my last longi(ish) run 10miles very slow. Im on easy street from now until about half way up Bessy Boot in a weeks time.
Best thing is this time next week, Ill be knackered, aching and 2 or 3 pints for the better.
