and this,

odd video as the vocal track is recorded live during the video shoot, rather than using the recorded track.
Possibly one of the finest records ever made.

Got Escafeld Quartet, www.escafeldquartet.com, appearing live at the Huntsman, Thurlstone (www.thehuntsmanthurlstone.co.uk) tonight. Playing a mixture of Folk, popular and classical music.
Been listening to nothing but Iron Monkey - our problem. Lost this album for a over a year and since finding it i've not really listened to much else. Anyone else on here a fan of sludge, doom, drone etc?
Just about to post the same thing !
Final manuscript for my book is with the publishers - there's a chapter devoted to 80s music icons who have passed on - hope its not too late to add a piece about him. Buffalo Gals & Double Dutch, as well as Madame Butterfly were superb.
Spot on Rob. I always loved listening to Malcolm McClaren and the songs you mention are great  I heard a BowWowWow live session on 6 music recently too, and it sounded amazing
I know he did a few vocals but did he have any musical ability himself or was just a frontman for other with the talent?
Interesting that his son with Vivienne Westwood has gone into the 'family business' by co-founding Agent Provocateur.
Just listening to Laura Marling's new offering: 'I speak Because I Can'. Seems a bit more earthy than her previous albums. 1st listening and only on track 6 as yet...............................

Looking forward to some fresh CD's to give my new Monitor Audio RX2's a chance to show what they can do. The old Quads went to Australia via ebay auction - ruddy postage was a mare but that's for another thread............
Just came across this in my music folder, very 'nice' track by Rosie Thomas:

Just over 7 years ago I upgraded my amp which was 16 years old. I had to get well over 1K for a new one to start sounding better and the one I went for was from the same company! These new speakers have let the amp show a little more of itself. Would love a dedicated audio visual room - would be great putting together the kit :)
well i never.............

Dom - you must try this album, track link below (only track on Youtube):
Christina Kulukundis, guitar and vocals are stunning (and banjo).

It is more folk with SOME country overtones but predominantly modern folk with quality string backing. Well worth £8 or so, especially the live track 13 which is vocal + 1 acoustic 6 string and the combination of the lyrics and strings is quite emotion wrenching (IMO anyway!).
As he plays again for the 5th time tonight................!!!
These guys did some fabulous 'Black Country'..

£13.74 on amazon uk delivered..............Mmmmmmmmmm - was going to press the buy button but might dither a bit longer, bit pricey............
I have a tape of a previous incarnation of the band. I'll try and get it onto mp3 so you can burn it to CD.
The singer is fantastic. When I saw them once he snapped a string. Grabbed his spare, decided it wasn't right and then restrung his original guitar while telling a few jokes and stories before launching back into the set.
