Waiting for thr results is hard though. Surely there could be a system where you are given the results as you cross the line. It would save all this waiting.

I quite understand your comment. Some events have the results there and then, and have them online before you have chance to get home. The likes of SportIdent do a wonderful job. That is a tough act to follow in terms of time and resources mind you, and we have taken the decision not to go down that route. We like to keep the races cheap to enter and give away lots of prizes at the end of the season, especially to the kids.
It takes a lot of time and effort from our volunteers to organise the races. Many of our volunteers are giving up their chance to run the races themselves. I always say to them that there is no pressure to get the results out immediately. If they are out before the next race then that is fine by me. It isn't so many years ago that the only way to find out your result was to come along the following week and look at the piece of paper sellotaped to a car window.
We can always do with additional volunteers, so if there is anyone out there willing to assist one week then please drop me a p.m.

Alastair
I'm sorry, I was only joking. I see they're on the Helm Hill website. Very good effort. Thanks. I'll certainly try and volunteer some time in the future.
Great route this year - a bit too fast and furious for me though.....need a bigger hill so I can walk up it!
results are now up
Icy up there today, lots of frozen divots from the cattle, nice day though. Might have blagged my way into the top quarter of the field today, which just goes to prove what i've known all along- i'm a rubbish fell runner and a good XC runner. Lost a sprint for the funnel to one of those triathlon blokes, could have sworn i had it in the bag...curses!
Belting weather this aft and a fair view of the Howgills to boot. Enjoying these fast and furious runs, If only I'd tied my laces properly, instead of one coming undone at the first gate.. there's not much opportunity to stop and double knot is there?

Apologies if I missed you but my batteries kept freezing. That's not a euphemism... Well, it could be.
The Firbank results are now on the website here
