Agree with you, the summit record and the overall record will never (I think) be beaten.......whats ironic that both records set in 1985........the footpath has changed a little over the years, and yu have to run on the path all the way, no more running on the rail (health & saftey......like everything else)Quote:

This is almost an admission that there are too many non-fell runners entering the race. People with the requisite experience of the terrain ought to know their downhill limits and will not take unnecessary risks, or if they do, will do so with the full knowledge of the consequences.Quote:

Downhill running requires a different, but equally valid, set of skills to uphill running; indeed, there are typically two types of fell runner: uphillers and downhillers. Why celebrate the one variety and ignore the other?

Come on, there may be reasons for having special prizes for the ascent only, but don't blame it on "Health & Safety"! That's just an excuse for not having a genuine reason!:mad:
