Five Point - Pale. allegedly better than
Hawkshead - Windermere Pale, it isn't!
it was decent enough, but overly bitter and didn't really let the hop flavour come through.
both at the Old Bell, Harrogate.

2 Bottles of the incredible Bristol Beer Factory award winning milk stout at lunchtime today. In the fantastic Friends Of Ham Leeds. A great way to spend my day off.
Boat: Hawkshead 5 Hops
Not bad at all!
Guinness West Indies Porter watching England. A Superb drop !

Friends of Ham today. A bottle of the tremendous Bristol Beer a Factory Milk Stout. Followed by a tremendous rye ginger milk stout ! Beautiful, both.
Osset Brewery Yorkshire Blonde, not bad.
I thought it was pretty good. Maybe a tad sweet but better than most supermarket offerings, especially dark ones!

The Martians kidnap Santa!
One of the best names for a beer we've come across in years - an 8.8% egg nog stout - we had this at the Taphouse Bar in Lancaster, Pennsylvania tonight - not sure if it's the best preparation for a 15K trail race tomorrow morning.

Couple of lovely beer's from the fantastic Wylam brewery yesterday, Chinook and Golden Tankard. Lovely ales if you like hoppy golden/blonde ales :) Also had a Hawkshead Lakeland Gold when I got home :)
Gold medal hazelnut porter from Saltaire Brewery yesterday in The Queens Head, Burley-In-Wharfedale. Beautiful stuff & 2 pints of it hit the spot. Will be back next week post headtorch run.
Stancil India Ruby Ale - actually darker than it looks in the photo.

keeping it local at lunch!
Ilkley - Lotus IPA
Harrogate - No5 Porter
I think the Lotus is Ilkley's weakest offering. The porter was excellent, great coffee and chocolate flavour and a wonderfully thick velvet mouthfeel.
picked up some Green Flash bottles from Harrogate Fines Wines too.
Loads of mighty fine ales in York Tap, favourite offerings today, Pollards from Thornbridge and Chennai from Northern monk Co. Both thick velvety dark coffee malty sumptuous beers :)))
lovely pint of Moorhouse's Ice Witch in the Boar's Head after Gravy Pud today :p
My sister ran the Gravy Pud and she said you all had to down a pint of gravy at the finish?

Gold medal winning Arbor Breakfast Stout last night. At 7.4% I'm not too sure I'd be having it for breakfast.
Noggin Filler from Litton Christmas Cracker race. A Cracking ale.
2 brilliant pints of Stoodley Stout in the amazing Whitelocks, Leeds today.Only popped in to take something back...........
A tour of the best real ale bars in Leeds yesterday:
A pint of Dave dark mild from Great Heck Brewing Co. Excellent.
A pint of Smokeless Porter (Redwillow I think). Superb & very Smokey!
A bottle of Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing Co. Not bad, but not the best.
A pint of Yorkshire Blackout Porter from The Great Yorkshire Brewing Co. Superb, as ever.
Things were getting a little hazy by this point & I can't remember what my last bottle was or whether it was any good.
Believe it or not I've developed a real liking for the Tesco branded "simply..." Range.
The Simply Dark and Simply Stout are very good, and at £1.39 ( I think?) a bottle, very good value.
Apparently the Norse god Thor is fond of stout, so now I use it as my recovery drink of choice after a long run.
Ardmore whisky today seeing as it's Burns Night!
Had a very nice pint of Copper Dragon's Black Gold at the Bluebell in Kettlewell at lunchtime. I do like my dark beers in the winter; luvverley!
Looks like Copper Dragon is closing and re-opening just down the road as Greyhawk - had a pint of Blonde Obsession, sublime
Charlie mentioned the Greyhawk thing last weekend. Can't be worse than CD
MJ and Ilkley Black last night. Black on splendid form
Greyhawk tastes nothing like CD - thank goodness!
Well, I enjoyed my Dark Gold! I didn't know CD was so badly thought of. I always thought the best bitter was reasonably quaffable...
I'll be at the Pendle Beer Festival at Colne Municipal Hall tomorrow.
It's in it's 11th year and they are always well organised.
Over 100 beers to chose from ~ slurp !

2 pints of tremendous Naylors Black & Tan in The Listers Arms, Ilkley, this aft. £2.05 a pint!! Not grumbling.
I was in there last night Jez, and had the same - very nice!
Just before that I was in the Flying Duck; compliments to their dark mild, too.
Understandable, although I didn't think the Duck was too badly priced.
Not the cheapest, but there's plenty more expensive pubs around.
Flying Duck is a good addition to Ilkley's pubs. A decent night out now
