Hi IDP,
It's a shame this clashes with the Long Mynd Hike otherwise I'd be there. I did this a few years ago (different route) and quite enjoyed its challenges, especially the man-eating bogs on the top. :D

Hi IDP,

I've got another question. Is the route marked, or does it require navigation?
Cheers
Hi Jan Yes just the same.
Hmmm! Yes!
Path through woods and up cut gate is rocky or good path with patches of wet stuff. from there it's the Derwent edge. Definitely fell, lots of bogs as it's been quite wet recently. After you cross the woodhead and the brief bit of road you run on trail (save something for this as it is fast and easy to pick up places. Finish is through woodland and then good paths.
I Would probably runit in well studded trail shoes. Definitely not road shoes
The first part is quite easy to navigate. there are marker poles along Derwent edge after Outer edge but if the clag is down a compass will be needed to keep you on track as they may be beyond clag visibilty.
There will be plenty of team members on the course acting as marshalls etc.
The only fiddly bits are after crossing the Woodhead and in the woods near the end but these should be marked but keep an eye on your map and you should be fine. If you were thinking of the long course make sure you take the correct route when they split. There is a high route and a low route.
If we havent posted any one by Bull clough (the dip between Cutgate and OE) go round or go under!!!;)
Any thing else you need to know.
Seems like I'm back on for this one as plans have changed! Hope to see a fair few of you there. I'm trying to rustle up some support to get a few more runners interested. :)
Been Poorly Sick with injured knee, which put and end to my 3Peaks, so haven't raced as much really. then was busy with work ....oh woe is me , but have been getting in some good work on the bike and am back running as well now, so am looking forward to the grin and bear it and some other races . see you in October
Just got my route description for the long walk/run. There's no path marked on the map between 2 (Featherbed Moss) and the road. Is there one of the ground? They mention the cairn several times so I guess that's important! Looks nice route.
