Sandwich:eek::D It was a race not a picnic;)
Haha, well i thought i needed something other than gels, so a made a jam buttie before Em picked me up, squashed it to fit in my bumbag and munched it whilst i was having to walk with my cramp.
I wasnt intending to take it on the run, just eat it after...but daz h said "you'll need food out there today", so i thought i best take his advise.:D
Re: Race kit requirements.
well, at least yout had that extra bit of energy stuff, quite sensible IMO:D
I munch on nutrigrain bars during a long run and dextro tabs.
Re: Race kit requirements.
For Pendle I intend carrying in my bumbag:
Waterproof trousers (never worn)
Spare gloves
Compass
Spoggy CleM race map
Whistle
A packet of fruit pastiles (loose in a small freezer bag)
A lucozade sport
A small bottle of harrogate spring water
Nothing else
I'll wear either my waterproof or windproof depending on the weather and will have a small handful of fruit pastiles in that too. I'll probably wear gloves and a hat unless the weather is completely un-Pendle like, in which case my windproof will also be bumbag-ised.

depends on the kit you have.
Some of the waterproof stuff packs down to very little.
I have a innov8 jacket and trousers. The jacket folds away to form a bum bag you can wear and just about fit trousers whistle and compass in as well.
Its a bit crap if you have to wear the jacket as the rest of the stuff bounces around in your pocket. :(
Re: Race kit requirements.
Does the windproof jacket need to have a hood? Have looked at the rules and it doesn't seem to specify this (that I can see).

My interpretation when full body cover is stipulated is if your jacket has a hood you don't need a hat and if not you do..............
You lose a high percentage of heat through your head so covering it up if stranded is wise.

Not neccessarily, full body cover is all most events ask for so if you have a hat (and you would be crazy to miss this piece of kit esp at this time of the year) then no. However a RO could ask for Jacket with Hood as per Edale Skyline last three years. Depends on venue and organisor. what ever the forecast I always go with a wind proof and my waterproof with Hood and make the descision just before the start.
Re waterproof pants, Only worn then in one race, last years Watershed. but carry them when out by myself.
Re: Race kit requirements.
Thanks for all the responses!!
The race I intend doing is an AM in December and on the information it states "that all runners should carry windproof body cover, map, compass and whistle." So I am assuming that they can't turn round on the day and ask for waterproof body cover?

I would say that they can. what they are asking for is a minimum requirement. However you should also use your judgement. if they stick to windproof cover but it looks like being windy with rain-sleet over a high level course would you really stick to windproof, I wouldn't.
