A nice run this evening (apart from the dog rolling in poo that is :rolleyes: ) with a couple of nice pictures to boot....

Beautiful Stolly! these photos always make me want to step out for a run (even if it is only in shields like!) :-)
really do envy how much you get out there and how much you obviously really enjoy it
Not sure I've got it right way about, focussing on races. I do enjoy it too, obviously, but you can't always say during a race - especially the long ones - that you are really 'enjoying yourself'. Too much pain involved. The enjoyment comes mostly in having finished!
anyway, I've been sat around feeling sorry for myself with sciatica for a month and this has made me think sod it, just get out there for a jog and enjoy it

Another lovely run this morning, this time from Malham. It was a bit tricky climbing up Gordale waterfall one handed with Harry under the other arm mind. And the highland cattle, including one huge hairy arsed bull, were a 'just a little' intimidating on the way up towards Kirkby Fell, especially when a couple of them with their whopping great horns and packing serious tonnage started to canter right at us from about 5 yards away! They chickened out though when I told them to 'chill out' (try it, it works).

I agree. Even my 13 yr old daughter can appreciate them! You have a talent. I would pay for a calendar as well.

I'm not usually a great fan of going up and down a mountain on the same track but this run is an exception. Its easily the best route up Ingleborough for having a nice and gentle gradient which is absolutely runnable all the way and the run back down is superb, mainly on grass with some muddy bits thrown in. I was back early from work today so it seemed a shame not to get out and about...

By the looks of it the light was crap for landscape photos durin' your run yesterday. I think tha's best concentratin' on closer subjects for them sort o'days.

Yeah the light was a bit crap - I'd been to a client meeting north of the border earlier in the day and it was gorgeous coming back, especially when I nipped off the M6 at junction 37 to 'cut the corner' through Sedburgh, Dentdale and Kingsdale. By the time I set off for my run though clouds were blowing in which turned to drizzle for a while. All the same I quite like being on the tops and in the middle of gloomy moors and, although its not always the case, sometimes its the gloomy pictures that are the most evocative. I'm not sure of my second and third photos, which you're right are a bit humdrum, but I like my first oneQuote:

The 3 Peaks
23.2 miles and 5,300 feet
A bit of a last minute decision to run it but a fantastic, if slightly gruelling, trot around the 3 peaks today. Quite hot and sunny conditions coupled with me not carrying much food (I ate one twix stick and two fruit pastilles on the way round) and not a great deal of drink either (a lucozade sport and a stubby bottle of harogate spa water) made it interesting for sure :D

Stolly, you're a machine. For that i'd need a minimum of 5/6 gels plus snacks plus about 4 litres of nice peaty beck water :oQuote:

Today was the day of the Settle Loop Trail Race but, unfortunately I couldn't make it. Instead I ran much of the route first thing this morning with Harry, although we veered off the proper route at the end through Attermire Scar to get a good vantage point as the race proper trailed past. A beautiful run in lovely conditions. Harry rolled in sheep poo but that another story!!
This has got to be one of my best pictures yet of Pen y Ghent :)

And what a truly brilliant brilliant run! On Saturday (yesterday) I'd run my Plover Hill and Pen Y Ghent 10 miler with Rachel (shaunandrachel from the forum) which is sort of my favourite run in the world but, after today, maybe its my second favourite. Good timing too as the 3 peaks cyclocross front runners hit Simon Fell and Ingleborough almost exactly as I did returning from my loop out around Park Fell.
