Top night out around the Kirk. Good to catch up with Swift, Brett and a very sociable Antisocial. Mapper is still Mapper, your thinking of Tomsk!!!
Sorry we could not stay for the soup & roll, had to get back to Lancs before the border gate closed
Thanks to Charlie for organising.

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
just got back from my first head torch run tonight and thought it was really good fun even in the pouring rain and mud(my favorite conditions). only did 3 and a half miles just to try it but felt really good and could of gone for my miles but had to be back to pick the misses up from work. bring on tomorrow night.

14 miles over Bleaklow with Marvin and the Nuns... details on TT

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
4 x 550ft reps, solo, Ilkley Moor. Felt strong on climbs
-
Re: Tonight's headtorcher
6m around st Ives and Harden Moor. Set off from Bingley fire station and hammered it all the way up Altar lane. A good stretch after last night's Oxenhope run. ( now sat with the obligatory G and T !)
-
Re: Tonight's headtorcher
I met Hank from these here forums tonight for 5 x 600ft reps on Otley Chevin. We bumped into Bob's climbing mate Brocky too. Made for a nice evening :)
-
Re: Tonight's headtorcher
Nice steady run through Longshaw and up onto Higgar last night. Once on the open moor I switched the torch off and after a few minutes to adjust it was just so good. You can see and appreciate much more of what's around you rather than just running in a little pool of light.

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
A very pleasant run around Silsden and Addingham moorside with Feet in the Cowclaps.
Saw the millstones, Windgate Nick, Doubler Stones, Apprentice Wall Corner and the Fireman's Stone.
Oh, and watched with pleasure as he sank into the gloop!

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
Mods only was it last night Brett? :closed:

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
A late decision to run.
Rob was very kind and jogged whilst I wheezed and spluttered :)
I think Rob is making an appearance at Kildwick tonight and def. for the run tomorrow night at the same place

Off to SE Asia in couple of hours. Back Hobble Sat, too late to run! Might see you that afternoon for a bit of washing up, or Front Room that evening :)

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
I've just been up by the Doubler Stones - very thick mist, you can hardly see anything. Should make for an interesting night run!

A little run up and down the Wessenden valley with Tony B. A bit foggy tonight.

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
Cracking 'torcher navigated by swift, taking in Nab End and the Doubler Stones. Maybe 6ml / 700ft. Good range of well kept beer in Kings Arms

Yes. it was very nice in the drizzle and mist. Well done on finding the doubler stones. They've only been there for how many zillion years. How can they be missed?

They were on the old Rivock Edge race route way back in the last millennia when it was a 10 miler from Silsden playing fields!!

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
3 x 550ft hill reps on Ilkley Moor. Last 'torcher of the 'winter'? Maybe
-
Re: Tonight's headtorcher
Belting start to the 'winter' last night. Nearly 8miles on the Bronte moors from Haworth with the club followed by refreshment in the Old Hall. Good to see Brett back running and sunnysideup and millipede out. Aunty Sally was also running, with his dog Galileo. Poor Galileo had to stop every hundred yards or so to empty his bowels but then AS has that effect on a lot of people as well :closed:

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
Can I just say here and now that Galilao is a fricking stupid name for a dog :)

Dark Peaks Second "winter torch run" last night... Awesome. I ran in a vest and shorts, no thermals, no wind proof!(In my bumbag of course). 2 hours 20 over Fairbrook to Kinder Gates across to Red Brook a rain down to Mermaids pond and back over Kinder to the Northern edge, down the other Red Brook and along to Lady Clough. 28 out last night.
The sky was really clear, more so than usual and the Milky way was emblazened across the sky. one of my best night runs ever
-
Re: Tonight's headtorcher
I think we had about 20 folks for our run Ian and you're right, it was an amazing evening for a run out. I had a t-shirt and shorts on, but wished I'd gone with a vest. Would have been a perfect night for barearsed running

Ian, were you at Mermaid's Pool around 8.15pm? I was coming down the path from Sandy Heys down towards Benny's Bridge & then over Middle Moor back to Hayfield. Saw a few lights over towards Red Brook, Mermaid's Pool area.

Sounds about right we set off from Birchins clough at 6.45 and went to Fairbrook Naze-Kinder gates and then red brook, there were 27 of us so if it was only a few lights then no, if it looked like lots then yes, the picture above is taken from the spring looking down to the pond.

Re: Tonight's headtorcher
Stef and I have been out for a headtorch-powered night hike in the Strid Woods: Barden Bridge to Cav Pav and back. Lovely evening to be out!

Ours was about 5 miles too and hilly (well bumpy anyway); but it felt like 50!
