I wore Flyrocs last year and will do so again. Wouldn't do short races in them, but for this distance and this race I found them perfect. Your feet need the extra protection over 4 hours.
Wore Terrocs last year. Will be Mizuno Harriers this year if its as dry as last year !
465 is my number. Which ones are flyrocs? Are they the grey and black ones - by the way anyway - how come everyone knows what make running shoes they wear!!!! - bunch of geeks you lot!!!!!;) ;) ;)
Geek is my middle name. Flyrocs are the blue ones.
Hi All,
Myself and 2 others from here are intending to meet up on the morning of 15th March and do the 3 Peaks as a recce run. We did it 2-3 weeks ago and got mixed up between coming off Penyghent to Ribblehead and I think we went up Whernside slightly wrong. As such if anyone can make this date and knows the route really well, it would be great to have you along.
Paul:rolleyes:
I hope all you recce fanatics realise that the direct route up Whernside should only be used in the race itself.
Chris. Envelope.
Anybody up for a training run tomorrow (Friday)? Thinking of doing a couple of peaks, W+I from Ribblehead.
Time to suit before 3.00pm as I have a date with a few pints of carbs at 7.30!!
Sent my entry off yesterday hopefully I'm not going to miss out like I did at edale
Is anyone considering doing a recce on Sunday 5th March? If I can get the day clear, I'm looking at starting from Horton about 10-10:30.
Sorry, I did mean the 4th.
I'm looking at doing all of it. I have walked in the area a few times in the past couple of years but I'm a little unsure of some parts of the route.
Hyporunner
All being well I'll be free on the 4th March for a slow trot round the route. Are you still thinking of coming up this way? Anyone else??
On second thoughts I'd miss out Penyghent since the route will be marked and the field will still be together at that stage.
SC
I won't be able to come up on Sunday as I need to get back to Essex by 4pm. It's a shame as it's the only decent chance I could get before the race.
Mark
Could someone briefly describe the route betwen PYG and Ribblehead? I can't seem to get the map that ws posted earlier to work.
Also, is this one you have to do a recce for, do you reckon?
:)
Thanks for that Pike.
That's a great help Pike, thanks.
So, are the sections you're not supposed to train on: 1. the shortcut from the Penyghent path to the Ribble Way at Sell Gill Holes (which appears to have walls in the way on the 1:25,000 map) and 2. the ascent of Whernside? Any sections I've missed?
The legit way up Whernside is obvious but what about getting from the Penyghent path to the Ribble Way if that's disallowed?
PS My planned reccie this Sunday is now off. The lurgy that I thought I was just getting over has come back again. :(
I'm pretty sure you can go where you like round this area (although someone please correct me - I know you will) as its open access land - However at some times of the year you cant take a dog (for lambing and grouse I think) but you can wander where you like.
I've absolutley no idea about this bit Slowcoach as you may have seen my post on the 'other thread' that no-one has thrown any light on either.......
Thanks Daleside
The training starts to get difficult around now ... 18m/2500' in the pouring rain on Sunday 4/3 :( . Motivate me someone, please ...
Running in the rain is fun. I love it

perhaps this really cool website will motivate you - you can check the weather before you go!!!
I'm in! :D Number 509
Excellent new Clodhopper, nearly full now!
Chris is 511.
See you all there!
Chris is 511 what, tall, old, would you like to expand a little?
:) We should all wear Fellrunner.org.uk tshirts on the day and then we can identify ourselves for introduction purposes!
I've mentioned this before but we should write our forum names on our numbers, cheap and easy way of being noticed !!!
I've got a 'daleside' beer bar towel, perhaps I'll fashion it into some kind of running tunic!
Stringman made a load of name tags last year, he may be just as keen this year.
yOu just have to make sure you dont wear a helly hanson, NOUH. ;)
