White hill?
I remember wasting some time their exploring the trig and the towers
this thread inspired me to run out and seek my local trig this evening... 3 miles away, behind a farm a couple of miles outside the Warwickshire town in which I live...
it was a sorry site, the vegetation in the field was higher than the trig point. although it does plant seeds of a triangular training run, linking up another trig a few miles away across fields and country roads... sadly that trig appears to be fenced in on private land...
How about this one...
this will certainly be recognised by some.
I wouldn't want to infer any wanton vandalism but it does appear to have been painted in the local club colours....
I didn't want to make it too obvious...

Seldom visited by fell runners I would suggest.
Anyone?
:)
Not sure, I drive past it regularly and I've wondered. It's in an open space, quite high up, so would have had views of other trig points in the past (doubt it does now).
Here my local trig:

Anyone care to say or guess where it is before I give the answer?
Looks like a panoramic thats gone wrong.
Yes it's panorama that's gone wrong - but its a real trig and view!
Here is one of the original pics. Attachment 8185
West Cumbria? Dent? Cleator Moor sort of area?
Thanks for the clue, Mark: I had been wondering where there were such impressive mountains so close to such an unimpressive town:) . After extensive searching on OS 1:50000 sheet 89, and a bit of help from geograph.org.uk, I have worked out that it is the trig at 129m spot height, just off the path from St. Bees Head to Whitehaven: see also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4494310 . Is that West Cumberland Hospital on the left of the picture? It's certainly Great Borne, Red Pike and High Stile in the centre, with Crag Fell on the right.
Correct title for the picture: "If only the weather was like that on the day of the Ennerdale Race." [I wasn't there, I just read about it.]
Well done you've got it. Credit to both of you but extra points to anthonykay for his research. Yes that is the West Cumberland hospital and the fells as described. Part of Pillar is on the right.
Some great views from that top field. I'm pleased I went.Attachment 8186Attachment 8187
That's Dent in the second picture.

Most of you will never have been to this one. This is the turn around point (916 mtrs) for the Galtee More IMRA race next Sunday. It's a tough "medium". They don't build them as well in Ireland!
probably highly frequented by others, but first time for me on Sunday:
https://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/atta...5&d=1568130402
and who can guess which race I was recce-ing?
Mmm...looks a bit like Durisdeer, only dry!
Thieveley Pike?
Been in my house about 17 years and it was only last year, I found out there is a Trig a couple of hundred metres from my house. Marple Ridge Trig.

Durisdeer, no; Thieveley, no;
thought this was an easy one
clue: between the "middle background" and the "far background" is the Derwent valley
Not the Cumbrian Derwent valley as in Borrowdale,is it the Durham one?
High Neb?
High Neb, close but no cigar
to put everyone out of their misery it's Flask Edge (between Hathersage and Totley - that's the trees above the Longshaw Estate just to the left of the trig)
and I was recce-ing the GoBigMoor race which is next month (and which route looks superb btw)

Found a new trig today. Thought I spotted it from my walk so diverted to check it out.
Hough Hill, just above Brindle. Great views across to the West Pennine Moors to the South, Pendle to the East and the Bowland Fells to the North.
On a better day will see much farther, probably to North Wales and the Lakes.
