Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
er, yes Yewbarrow-RedPike (I've edited it above) :o
I did RedPike-Steeple in 18 mins on Saturday, but I'm leaving it at 20 mins in my schedule
I amazed myself by getting down off Scafell to NT car-park in 34 mins :w00t:
the only split I struggled slightly with was Yewbarrow itself - had it down as 47, did it in 47:30, might list it as 49 :sneaky:

Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
I was involved with Paul's attempt over the weekend. The Midnight start/April date worked great. We started up Clough Head in the dark at about 04:20 and by the time we got to the summit we could turn off the lights. He had lost a lot of time due to the knee injury so he should have been leaving honister closer to 8:00 instead of the 9:10 that it turned out to be, which would have allowed him to be well into the decent off Robinson before loosing the daylight.

Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
daz someone did this on attempt last year they went by the black line
3 went higher probably on highest trod of yewbarrow and came out on the trod to the right below yellow line and probably would have summited red pike a good few minutes quicker if they had kept going and not waited for contender

all in all, a productive day!
Yes I usually go via the blackline on your photo, I find it quicker, the only time I don't use it is if the ground is very wet as it can get very boggy.
Can be handy for at least one of your support on a hot day as its the last water until Blacksail

a couple of people have dropped out, nothing too major hopefully, I'll be sending round an email soon to keep everyone informed.
Leg 4 is actually least affected but you'd be more than welcome to continue :)
just worked out that in the last 9 weeks I've covered 380 miles including 85,000ft ascent - can I start tapering now? :p

I'd say YES, put your feet up for 2 weeks and try not to fall down the stairs or anything similar.
Did you do the OCT ?

Daz just to say that I'm definitely away when you're BGing otherwise I'd offer support. I think I've done getting on for 460 miles and 75,000 feet in the past 9 weeks (I'd check with garmin connect but my work computer's too slow) and am aiming for a stonking May before my BG attempt in June.

Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
Hi daz a bit late in the day maybe but did you get your road support sorted? I'm on the side lines now and doing some of marks and could easily do some for you too if it would help. I'll be there any how to cheer you on. Let me know if I can help.

Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
Will - I did attempt the OCT route, but started a bit late and my BG-shuffle pace wasn't going to get me round before it went dark, so I cut it short at Lingcove Beck (just before Cockley Beck) then went back to Langdale over 3 Tarns/The Band - I was still out for 11 hours, so all good stuff (although I don't recommend the descent of Little Narrowcove! :w00t: )
Stolly - sounds like your training is building nicely
Amex - one of the gaps is Threlkeld road-support - you don't fancy manning that do you?
old un - Many Thanks for the offer :) Wasdale road-support is still vacant if you fancy that? or Threlkeld if Amex passes...? PM me your email address if you want to discuss...
-

Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
Daz
It is going to be busy evening at the Moot Hall on Friday evening. I know of one lady setting off at 6pm (clockwise) which is why I guess you are heading off a short while later. I am heading off at 7am on Saturday going anti clockwise on a 23 hour schedule so all being well our paths should cross somewhere between Pillar and Steeple.
You are probably in the same place as me at the moment as regards as nailing down pacers / nav, road support, logistics and admin which is making the actual running of the thing seem like the easy part (not).
All the best for your attempt. I may be around to see you off on your way on the Friday.

Daz i would not let you down, i am bringing Anthony up to the start and i will then go to CP1 and eat cake:w00t:
how many on leg 1? cos i can set off and walk up to carry stuff if you need
-
Re: BG Attempt 17/18th May 201
Amex - I hope you're bringing your own cake!? :w00t:
Start time has been brought forward to 6:15pm by the way
apart from Anthony, Manhar is also on Leg 1, plus possibly one other (Lee B. he's not sure if he'll be able to get up there in time)
if you wanted to go ahead and lug some drinks up Skiddaw to keep a bit of strain off Tony/Manhar I'm sure they'd be grateful
but if you wanted to see me off from Moot Hall that would be fine by me
I should be emailing out my final schedule/personnel/contacts/logistics details tonight...

Hi Bill
Are you out with Didier tomorrow? I'm cadging a lift with his missus to be at Wasdale at 10am. Which direction are you coming from? Would it not be easier to go from Honister? I'm easy either way as I'm not driving.
Simon
