The key question is - will we all be able to get round / off the hill before Bertha?!

Ain't it just typical?? Wall to wall sunshine for weeks and now Mother nature throws this curveball!!
Luscious Carol was no help this morning basically saying they haven't a clue what will happen!
The good news is that any wind will blow you home as it will be a strong westerly!
ooo eeerrr. Now doing last minute stuff like printing signing on forms. WHAT HAVE I FORGOTTEN????!!!! WHAT HAVE I FORGOTTEN????!!!!
The mental strain of being an RO in the modern era!!
Recording sheets? Hey, we got special laminated ones with pre-printed names/numbers and waterproof pens to check them off.
Numbers? 100 Tyvek weatherproof ones. 1-100. Anyone want 22-100??
Pins? 1000 all shiny
Cake? Mrs Bunny will be busy.
Tea? Shop at the top of the car park.
Stakes? Rod is cutting 10 from the feral wood behind his house.
Emergency phone mumbers? All printed out onto laminated sheets for the marshals.
Don't forget yer dongle!!
Good to see the Directors & Managers totally calm and fully in control of preparations.
For a minute there I thought you were about to ask for the start time to be moved to 11am to give you an extra hour to sort out both the traditional technology (numbers, pins, etc) and the high technology stuff (trackers, phones, etc).
;)
I've put a few last minute notices on the website and will update as news comes in. will be checking the cows tomorrow!
won't be there Wheeze but am sure it will go well given its in the hands of the Court....
good luck to everyone running this: I look forward to hearing how it all goes.
Will us couch potatoes be able to live track the event?
Hey Dudes, all is cool from the Molehill and see you there at CP5, but may be a grumpy Mole as not used to getting up that early in the morning  .
**STOP PRESS**
The route images have now been updated to include such as telephone numbers on day.

Suggest entrants print them off.
Good luck all
Wish I could be there. Family duties taken over.
Love to see how the technology works out. The fellrunning community should keep trialling new stuff. Some will be a disaster, some will become the new standard. Never know till you try it.
I think the sat phone has just "come of age" - and if so in time it will displace VHF radio because you can call anyone from a satphone, and anyone can call you. But only time will tell if there are problems in practice.
Dave Mole - I am assuming this is the link to use / disseminate to the couch potatos, but I'm sure Dom / Wheeze will correct me if it is not.
Bags packed and ready for a dawn start down the motorway.
Ugali on the menu last night, and again tonight after my evening yoga class.
Rest day today after racing Cracken Edge Wednesday evening, and a recovery trot yesterday.
just found the map via that link, thanks!

If any marshals that are putting unmanned checkpoints out, could you bring a large hammer / mallet please! Or any marshals that have a large hammer / mallet, please bring it along!
Worry not old chap! I have packed 4 hammers and a lot of stakes! But please remember to bring penknives....many jobs for those (including prodding recalcitrant runners to get along!)
Went up from Hay to Hay Bluff today. No cows around. People will need to CONCENTRATE on nav on the ODP mindyou. Those who have reccied this will be at a distinct advantage.
I've got a sledge hammer I can bring....
Car packed and all ready to go, just need the kids to allow me a decent kip before my 0500 start.
See you all there.
Hope you all have a great day tomorrow Wheeze. http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0676084c.gif
OK,
Thanks everyone for hanging in there.
Weather forecast has moderated. Should be a nice day.
I HOPE I have not forgotten anything.
Most importantly cave out the final duty today. Toffer is Officer In Charge of Cakes!
Just spotted a problem... We can fix it in the morning, if it needs fixing.... :)
23 pages, before the race even starts? Almost like the good old days of the forum!
Internet access permitting there will be live race reporting here, and maybe Facebook, and maybe (but unlikely) Twitter.
Just a taster....

I'm awake at this hour of the morning to drive for a couple of hours to marshall a race? Should know better than to agree to help wheeze and toffer out - need my head examined!! Now, where's the coffee....
Ditto !!!!Quote:

Hope everbody running & organising has a good day.
Found an open coffee shop. Result!! Marshals here, only one runner so far. Gorgeous weather.
Have a good day everyone. We had a brilliant day in Wales last Sunday
They're up and running!

Yes, I see the young James Blore has set a cracking pace - be amazed if he can maintain it.
This is proper gentlepersons fell racing. Only a few minor hiccups in registration, everyone set off into a beautiful day and then the organising team can kick back and watch the little flags crawling around the course!
Seriously, thanks SO much to everyone who has given up heir time and their Saturday lie in for this event....you're all making history (in a modest way!!).
Now, who's leading into Capel Y Ffin??
Armchair fellrunning at it's best!!

Where's Jerome going?!
----------------------
Ah Helen's reappeared after a very long gap ~ low-ish battery I see. It's an impressive trial of technology today.
seems like the front two have gone "off course" after Waun Fach: be interesting to see if it's any quicker than going down to Grwyne Fawr....
I see the leaders have opted to avoid the Grwyne Valley reservoir and Twyn Talycefn waypoint - presumably wanted to stay on the ridge and so minimise the climb unless of course they mistakenly took the most obvious path off Waun Fach.
now (25 mins later) showing the runners back on the course, in front of people they were behind. Is this a tracker issue?
Next time Wheeze, match race numbers to tracker numbers please!!!!!
Number 20 had an interesting track. Route choice or navigation glitches ?
No.20 was one of the ones who went "off". I imagine he saw he was going wrong and corrected himself...
