Two white hares on Kinder on Sunday.
Conditions were fairly Arctic.
I've seen a couple of wild boars while out running recently.
I saw a man-eating crocodile and 2 rhinos last Thursday.
a good thread getting silly now:rolleyes:
I'm glad we've cleared that one up then. ;)
I like the way you see silliness everywhere though. :D
i like not silliness, sarcasm and wondering off subject, but i know that leaves me open to having micky taken ou tof me and being wound up etc:D
Having said that, i saw a birdie the other day when i was running;)
Three snow buntings between Ingleborough and Little Ingleborough on Sunday afternoon.
Dead pleased this thread has been resurrected. Slightly mundane compared with some great spots recently but I've had a cheeky Dunnock in my front garden on and off all year and it's still around. Lovely little bird :)
Red letter day for me and Aly on Sunday :
Cycling off T.O.P. legs over Wyre to Glasson Dock - saw 3 separate short-eared owls 'working' a field near Pilling, then a merlin flew along road right in front of us.
After cycling went birding, saw a peregrine bombing a murmuration of starlings at Marton Mere, then on a tip-off went to Lytham Moss where we watched 5 barn owls 'working' a field for ages.
Two were there this morning too on my way to work.
Marvellous :)
I saw lots of white pelted hares today.
I came across a tortoiseshell cat on Monday while I was out running.it was delicious!:D
Spotted a Red Kite yesterday, presumably drifted over from Harewood. Also a flock of around a dozen Curlew nr Otley. I thought they over-wintered at the sea-side but guess some stay at the gravel pits in lower Wharfedale :)
A Deer shot across the path in front of me in the woods near Copley, glad it wasn't being chased by a Beast of Bodmin type cat:eek:
seen the footprint of a big cat in st ives bingley and an otter in the aire near riddlesden
Bingley's not that far from Halifax:eek:
Saw some bird of prey today and have no idea what it was.
It wasnt a buzzard, kestrel or sparrow-hawk which are common round here. It wasnt an owl either.
:)Running in Forest of Bowland this morning (after bailing out of cross country - didn't fancy a pea souper on the M6), suddenly found ourselves in the midst of a shoot dodging birds dropping out of sky. They don't half land with a thud:eek:
......hhmmmmm..... maybe that's a new thread today's dead wildlife encounter... couple of dead sheep too.
I found a pet rabbit in the middle of a field on leg 3 of Calderdale Relay
course today (if only it had been a cat  ). Looking around I spotted
a youngster peering through a hedge at me and when I asked if it belonged
to her she told me it did and it was just out for "a bit of exercise".
It did occur to me that anyone walking their dog off the lead would provide
plenty of exercise for it
A robin decided to keep me company whilst I filled the car with stuff for the tip. No fear at all - it just hopped out of the way when I was picking things up right next to it.:)
Just seen a Fox out of my window, across the road, heading for the woods. They'll be more wildlife sightings later at throwing out time in the village:rolleyes:
3 Waxwings in the back garden, never seen any before.
Derby
Do we get Bearded Tits this far north, cos I think we had some of them as well, looked to be the wrong colour for Long Tailed Tits
My RSPB bird book says that apart from in 'eruption' years when presumably we get many more Waxwings then there's probably only around 100 in the country so t ey're rarer than I thought.
Long tailed tits are one of my very fave birds and a wonderful pink colour - I often see a flock of 6-10 near Barden on the river. Bearded tits I've never seen and they're almost exclusively reed bed specialists so kind of species you'd see at Leighton Moss etc
Saw my first robin of the winter this morning.
Two snow buntings on the summit of Nicky Nook, edge of Bowland, during last night's run. :)
