According to something my wife heard in the visitor centre the race came very close to being called off due to the weather - that would have been a real shame. I suppose there would have been a repeat of the earlier occasion when it was cancelled and a lot of us would have had a wee run up anyway but it wouldn't have been the same of course. Also sorry to see (yawn - I know its a regular gripe) that about 125 people didn't start - I fully accept that things happen and people cant make it for loads of genuine reasons but when a whole fifth of the field doesn't make the start in a race which is notoriously difficult to enter somethings not right somewhere - its a bit like missing every fifth race and surely there aren't that many people who are that regularly injured etc.
I preferred the conditions we had to blazing sunshine, but its nice to have the views - I wore my cag from the start until I was back on the road, perfect going up, bit hot on the way down but couldn't bring myself to slow down and take it off until the road - why is the last mile always the hardest bit of this race?! (or the last 300 yards looking at the state of the muddy track)
any pictures about yet ?
thought the weather was ok,preferable to being warm,i think the only part of the route slower was maybe the grassy bank
some here but no idea who took them??
