I hear it's who he runs with that makes the difference.
You always run with.....
As usual you won a prize!
Half Miniken. Four Ruby Jane plus an Oakham Citra
Couple of Spitfires
Only 99p a bottle @ Morrison's
Resting
Is that a local brew DT?
A pint of Sleck Dust followed by a Tyneside Blonde in the magnificent White Horse in Rosedale Abbey today.
A pint of tremendous Weltons Churchillian Stout, at 6.6%, in The Lister Arms tonight.
Then an equally good Hop Studio Porter in The Crescent. All for recovery purposes.
Couple of bottles of Marstons Old Empire IPA, very nice too.
Leffe blond tonight. Not sure if this constitutes real ale or not but it's the best option from the shop round the corner :p
2 pints of excellent Naylors velvet last night.
A tremendous Weird Beard 5 O Clock Shadow IPA from Fuggle & Golding in Ilkley (Fantastic new beer shop) last night. They have 5 beers on tap (& rotation) which they pop in to a 2 pint bottle for you to take away.
Was in there the other night, after scaling SS in the dark, what a great pub! I was drinking the tremendous Black Wych!
Ok, so today's cd splurge was finished off in Friends Of Ham with some exceptional ale.
Celt Experience Le Match brown ale, Jaggery Pokery IPA at 8.6%. Then possibly the best ale I have ever tasted. Buxton Two Tun Double IPA at 11%. So good I took a couple of bottles home with me. Bit fresh now however.
Incidentally. So far tonight for me it's been a bottle of innis and gunn original followed by a Barry Island IPA. Next up, brewdog punk IPA...
Sharp's Atlantic pale ale (from the people who brought you Doom Bar). Went down very nicely indeed.
Saltaire XS Imperial IPA. Jeepers, this is strong stuff. Surprisingly nice though. Don't think I'll have more than one though just now.
Standard Sunday supermarket sweep:
2x Ilkley - Pale
2x Castle Rock - Harvest Pale
A couple of Siren - Undercurrent @ The Harrogate Tap - bloody lovely . An oatmeal pale ale with loads of fruit hop goodness - seek it out!
A couple of Saltaire - Blond @ The Glen, Gilstead. very good.
The Flying Duck beer festival this weekend, so I called in & hit the halves.
Barnsley Bitter, excellent as usual.
Saltaire Triple Chocolate Stout, superb.
Elland Brewery 1872 Porter, beautiful.
Roosters Asssasin (I think).
Then over to Bar t'At for third pints of:
Abbeydale Chocolate Stout
Marstons Oyster Stout
And Yankee Roosters Pale.
An excellent afternoon of steady drinking & trying not to think about not racing The 3 Peaks this year.
During a family trip to Ilkely I managed to squeeze a visit to Fuggle & Golding. Great set up and some awesome beers. the inhouse pump with 4 fresh beers on offer to take away is a cracking idea.
working my way thrugh:
Hardknot - Squiddy - a black squid ink infused pale ale! weird in lots of ways.
Siren - Smoke Signals - dry hopped, sour , smoked wheat ! not opened that yet
weird beard - Faceless Spreadsheet Ninja. a Citra hopped lager
Roosters - baby faced Assassin . top drawer IPA
didn't see Jez wobbling between venues! ;)
Thornbridge Melba in Bar t'tat. Peach flavour infused IPA. Very drinkable in spite of 5.3%
Saltaire Kala black IPA (6.2%) for me tonight. Very nice, went down pretty easily given its alcohol content. Never had a black IPA before though
You should try the Black Betty IPA from Booths Rob! Amazing stuff.
@Rob If your doing Jack Bloor I'll stick a bottle of my Black Hops in the boot for you
@Jez Already got one with your name on it
@Jez yes had a quick chat with Graham - i think he wished he was at 3Ps but hasn't done enough long runs! It was really busy so I didn't hang around too long.
They were all good but the Baby Faced Assassin was the best. Smoke Signal was very strange, a whole lot going on and i don't think you'd want more than one. quite balanced though.
Very best of luck to Fuggle and Holding!
Keeping it local I went to see Ilkley RFC in the semi-final of the Aire Wharfe cup last night. Mary Jane three quid and impeccably well kept
