Thanks to Allan and his little band of helpers for putting this on today. The trickiest part of the race was trying to get parked up on the thick snow covered car park. Good lung busting, leg trashing running over knee deep snow in parts. Allan shorten the route to 7.5 mile, the orginal being 8.1 mile, this was due to waist deep snow sections and ice. Visibility down to a few metres near the reservoirs but course well flagged. Pretty fast running in parts over compacted snow, unlike the powdered stuff we had at really wild boar last December. 51 ran with Tim Ellis being a comfortable winner. Beltin race made all the better with the conditions, cheers to all concerned.. Darren, Chorley.
that was bloody hard going in that snow, couldnt get a rhythm going, total whiteout on the tops, all i had to follow was the trail of blood in the snow, cracker that one
Hope you all the fun in the snow today. Heart warming to see runners knowing the modified route and being fair minded in turning around at the finger post whilst your truly was still making my way there-apologies in not being in position as a lot of the field came charging past. Visibilty was down to 20 yards or so on the way up chelburn moor and snow "blindness" was a slight issue on occassion. Sods law did dictate that it turned out fine, if a little breezy, with fine views of Stoodley pike on the way back down.
