Hello Everyone :d
JJ,Brett,Rabbit anyone ?
 well everyone seems to have had a very busy weekend in their 'real lives' don't they?
Not had much of a weekend, been mostly working!! Though at least I've had Saturday off (for once!!), in which I rode 90 miles over all the hills on the IOM (dissappointed as I thought I was going to be sub 4 hrs - at one point was on to do 70 in 3 1/2hrs, but lost time when I bonked - came back really strong from that one though, then took a wrong turning (had to back tracks), then the roads were closed due to a youth tour cycle race - they wouldn't let me through, so I had to make another unscheduled diversion - riding back out into the wind - lost time, energy and adrenaline doing this!!!!
The wind was strong + turned so I was fighting it on the major climbs!! Gutted as I came in the second fastest over the course in 4hrs 50, but I would have been at least 20 - 30 minutes faster than that if it wasn't for all of the mistakes I made. As it was a challenge format I was the only one doing it on that day, plus the controls at the cafe's had all been removed, so I had to ride it non stop, losing any time I stopped on the road (unlike the other riders who got stop times deducted at the cafe's plus didn't have the road closure problems!!
At least I've got plenty of excuses (get another one in, I'd only had 4hrs sleep and being working the night before LOL), and know I'm only 9 minutes slower than the first placed rider who had the advantages of the cafe stops and familiarity with the courses!! They'e going to run the ride again later this year, so I'm going to do it, and determined to get 3 1/2hrs for it. Hopefully if there's other riders doing it, there will be a draft for me (unlike when I'm on my own), plus I'll know the route and will not get lost. So at least 1/2 hr is definitely coming of that, then more if I do a lot of hard work and training!! Going to get on my TT and start doing a lot more quality training, so that I'll be fit for the challenge!!
Going out on my bike this afternoon/evening plus helping out with a road race (running).
Well as you might imagine it was a figure 8 course, which also involved some repeptitions of the same sections!! - for example you might be descending down one road, only to turn left to climb back up to the top of the same hill a few yards down the road!!..
The course itself was actually only 70 miles (sorry did I cause some confusion there?), but I had to ride to the start and back again afterwards!!, which I guesstimate was at least 10 miles (it may have been further) from my house to, travelling over some of the sections of the course I was to ride later (and also suprising my out + back route to the start actually took in some steeper climbs than the route back did!).
As you might imagine the transition from pushing it hard on the way back to the finish, to riding back home was pretty hard, after being stopped at the finish for a while!! Worst bit was I'd only taken arm + knee warmers, no extra jackets or anthing due to the desire to keep the weight down (didn't really need them in the actual ride), but after I got cold later I could have really done with them. What I should have done was worn something for the ride out, left it at the start, and then picked it up for the ride back.
Hello I'm back! Woz I missed?:D :D
I've bin off in the motorhome. We watched the Stuc a Chroin hill race. you would not believe how relaxing it is to actually watch a race and not compete. Then we tootled off to Fort William and then Aviemore. Was supposed to do run with a pall in Glen Feshie but the dodgy weather put him off and he turned tail so we had a couple of lazy days then came home. Nice break :D
:) hello cloddy welcome back.
Of course we missed you - did you miss us? Well? Hmm? Did you?
