I do wonder where the pike come from (before the fishmonger)?
Pike bones are much more rigid than herring bones, so you do have to be careful to remove them from every mouthful. I actually like herrings a lot more, and am willing to put up with the bones for the excellent flavour.
I will need to ask the fishmonger next time if he has it again. He does sometimes sell some game, so he must be in with the "hunting, fishing, shooting brigade".
This morning I found my old Swan slow cooker in a neighbours garage - don't ask - so I have brought it home and chucked some stewing beef, a tin of tomatoes and lots of veg in it for tonight's tea.
Just 2 hrs in it smells so good that even my 14 yrs old son prised himself from his X Box to investigate.
Also got the turkey out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge. It still doesn't know whether it will be feeding 3, 5 or 7.
That's in-laws for you!

Yum Yum
Sriracha Sauce on my Shepherds Pie!!
Midday:
Spaghetti with tons of fried garlic anchovies, tomatoes and grana
Greek yogurt, chia seeds, pears.
Espresso
Evening:
Oven veg, steamed veg, and spikey peppers stuffed with minced meat and tomatoes.
Best thing is the tomatoes are those I stored away last summer from the allotment (which is the raised beds at the back end of the garden)

It might not be as simple as that, though. Apparently (and I've only just found this out - it's not something I have expert knowledge of) insects fart as well. Termites, apparently, are "the champion farters of the insect world" so it wouldn't be a good idea to farm them for food.

If you're worried about farts, jellyfish may be the way to go. I can't imagine there's much nutritional value in them, though.
A load of interesting (!) facts on this subject, including that, according to Rentokil, "cockroaches release more methane in relation to their body size than any other creature they’ve ever had to deal with", can be found here:
