Think I saw two oystercatchers over Longdendal res today, couldn't be sure but I was fairly close and I've seen lots of them up in Scotland but never here - anyone know if this is likely? I looked in my book and the only other possibilty I could find was a godwit.

Oystercatchers is quite likely. Saw some down at Carsington Water a couple of weeks ago. Never seen Godwits around here, though.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
First Swallow spotted today :):)
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Weasel (or small stoat) running across the road near Northallerton. Red Kite above the M1 near Wetherby. It's great that they're spreading - 10 years ago this would have been a great surprise.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
My first wheatear of the year today on Wild Boar Fell.
Also a solitary golden plover on the col between Wild Boar Fell and Swarth Fell.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Spotted a lone Derby Tup on Beamsley Beacon this morning. Very odd.

As mentioned elsewhere said Tup could have done with a little more fleece to keep him warm ;) Good to meet you and well run today
