Hi Folks, I would like a place if anyone can transfer theirs please :)
Looking forward to running this event this year after walking the challenge in 2012. Had a ~20mile recce at the weekend incorporating most of the route, ankle deep after Weecher on the approach to 12 Apostles so not too bad but as mentioned in a previous post by RF the Chevin climb is slippery (and gooey). Dropped straight down at Whetstone Gate so don't know what conditions were like for the section beyond that (via Buckstones?). Furthest I've ever run by a fair whack but coped fairly well so not TOO apprehensive about it, just hoping it doesn't leather it down on the day. For the record, was wearing Roclite315's and they were fine all the way except for a lack of purchase on the steepest portion of the Chevin.
Did the full route myself at the weekend. Pretty boggy & hard going all the way. As you say, the climb up The Chevin was interesting ! The section down from West Buckstones is now flagged, alas, so no fun & games to be had there anymore. This'll be a road run before long, if certain people get their way. I have it on good authority that a certain chap wants to create a linear path looping right around Ilkley Moor.
On advice from the hospital I'm an exercise free zone at the minute until I see a consultant on Monday, so I will know after then if I will be transferring my place or not. First come first served if I do.
Hi Flopsy
I have sent you a PM

I was out on the moor on Sunday and the new path out at Buckstones made me do a double take. I used to like that part of the course as there were a couple of places where kind walkers had dumped stones and bits of wood as makeshift bog crossings and if you could hit those you could make up some ground on people wading through the mud. Never mind, I'm looking forward to the race anyway....

Looking at the weather we may be getting some snow on the route this weekend, been hoping that would happen before the day itself to familiarise myself with a few things. Snow showers forecast on Sunday and possibly Monday so hoping for a bit of accumulation for a steady 10-15miles, all being well.
I was up there today on my lunch break in the fog trying a slightly different route between whetstone gate and pipers crag. Didn't work out much faster (if at all) but I now find it quite hard to get lost up there, even in low visibility today each new path came out more or less exactly where I expected it to, funny how you get familiar with places.
