In my present state of unfitness I avoid any climbs unless absolutely necessary!
By the way... according to the OS maps, you can add 1000' to your climb - it comes out at 5483' !

cool! :-) now i feel hardcore
Hardcore indeed Ratfink :)
Dom, sorry I had you on a harder than the promised easy ride AGAIN! You must hate my guts by now!
The lemon drizzle cake has had its revenge, as too much scoffing of it had me sick last night LOL
Now, my hardcore activity of today was my first ever crit... vets and women only, so the pace wasn't mudering, like it is with the kids I normally have to race with... So managed a meagre 4th from 2nd position, as I cannot sprint, so dropped a couple of places in the bunch sprint :S
My 1st 2 road races have been cancelled thanks to the anti cycling lobby out near Treales who have swung it with the local plod by calling upong the road traffic act relating to cycling on a public highway of having a racing circuit of >=10 miles and the Elswick circuit is 7.7. Wonking bistards.
good work on your first crit!!
9 miler on the MTB (with 9yr old training partner who dragged me out when I was moaning at being too tired...:o )

cool vid!!
Nutter? No, sensible I'd say :)
2 hours on Rishworth Moor with Singlepeed Crosser inspired by Han's sensible vid, fell off a few times, and bloody ell it's a warm un Norman:)
Best of luck Han ;-)
Thanks Merry, I need it... feeling a bit wibbly due to cafeine overload and almost feel like not going...
Legs felt rubbish yesterday on the track too... ah well, maybe I just step off after one lap, find some excuse like a mechanical or summat LOL
god luck han!! i hate overdoing the coffee!
i rode back from chesterfield today, and threw in an extra hill round shillito wood, only 16 miles - should have done a bit extra in retrospect - but i felt i owed it to him in doors to make tea - after not getting back from climbing til after 10 last night
:-O (and tea being ready when i got back)
Not posted for a few days as Ive been busy( err watching the Giro and Tour of Califorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnication)
Not a good day for Lance yesterday. Landis stirring it all up again, Oh its all kicking off.
Only 1 x ride for me this week 20miles then spin class with some lovely ladies in lycra then another 20miles after.
Good luck on ya race Hann
Those good luck message clearly worked, or was it the caffeine?
Managed to stay at the front of the bunch for almost all the race, apart from on the dual carriageway, where I sat in and had a rest in the middle of it... Then alas, when we got to the bunch sprint (we had one man off the front but caught him) I was positioned awkwardly and could not get to the front enough... still, a top 30, maybe even top 20 finish in a man's race with a field of 80 isn't bad going! Pleased with that :)
Mind, I then could not sleep because of the adrenaline rush LOL Did not go to sleep till 2 am:eek:
Oh and average speed: 29 mph :)
awesome han!
Thanks Merry :D
Wasn't shifting much this morning on my first ever hillclimb LOL Forgot my hrm at home and I need that in order to kick myself into working hard mode... So I pootled up this hill, doing a track standing start that had some people along the side waiting gasp, as they thought I was going to fall over LOL
Then I just spun up in a small gear, high cadence, lots of dancing and prancing around out of the saddle... While all the real testers were in the saddle grinding a big gear in the big ring LOL
Still managed 2nd lady... but am abviously more of a roady when it comes to climbing hills LOLOL
On a positive note: when I got home from work this evening I wanted to take the crosser up the hill, but was expecting a friend t come round, so went for... a little run in stead :) and I can still do it :) was powering up to the ridge without stopping, but now I can feel my legs and it was only half an hour :-O Just as well I don't have any serious races till 6 June now so I can get back into running without worrying about the DOMS :)
28 miles, road out and canal back. Still warm at 5 pm and loads of flies!!
Route
85 miles Keighley club run - Etape de Cafes. Keighley, Skipton, Earby, Gisburn, Bolton by Bowland, Settle, over the tops to Gargrave then home - quite hilly!
16 members went out on this, it was steady but my biggest ride since i did this last year, have lost some overall cycling speed (not been out much) but quite pleased considering. Bottom quite sore though.
First time on the bike for a couple of months. 24 miles on the road and unlike AS my arse isn't sore as mine is well padded :o:D
Oven gloves are you saying I have a boney bum and if so how do you know - is it your ladder I found?
LOL :)
My cycling is ok at the moment, it is the running where I am lacking, but been out for an ickle run for the first time since mid February... So maybe it will improve...
Done 100 or so this week on the bike but in the morning a few of us will be Yorkshire bound for a hilly & brisk 85. Good tanning weather
One of my fave rides today up into the Yorkshire Dales and through Littondale and over Halton Gill. Great cycling weather with a good group of lads. 83 miles at 18.5 with a top speed of 47.4 on the descent into Stainforth.
oh no mine looks a bit paltry compared to ady
first 50 miler, in 4:07, avg speed 12 (including stopping for water), avg moving speed 15.5, max speed 36.5
ascent 4884feet (according to garmin)
feel slightly charred!
