The Met Office have improved their forecast slightly too...

Poor visibility though.
MWIS is talking about a chance of snow over the Pennines :)
Cloudy with light rain in the morning, and perhaps some patches of hill fog initially above around 600m. Becoming drier and brighter with just isolated outbreaks of rain in the afternoon. Moderate northeasterly winds.
Says metoffice.com now.
I'll take that!
Thanks for this info. I've been using the online rules and believed my amazingly bright and ultra reliable Lenser P7 to be perfect but it looks like it will fail on lens diameter and single LED. Looks like I'm off to Morrisons this lunchtime to get a cheapo plastic thing to pass the kit check with.
I'm sure when I last did the event there was a random kit check mid way through the event, can't remember which item (it was a single item) they checked. Do they still do this?
Re Torches. I asked the Fellsman organisers.
My question : "I've been using the online rules and believed my bright, reliable Lenser P7 Pro torch to be perfect but the book now says it will fail on lens diameter and singe LED. Which rules should I be using, online or book, and will my torch be okay. Quick reply appreciated, I may need to pop to Tesco for something else. Thanks."
Reply : "Dear Roger, Don't worry your torch will be fine. The LED torches have come on so much in the last few years. This rule is one of the rules we will be reviewing after the event in our planned 'grand rules overhall'. A trip to Tesco's is not neccessary ;o)
Best Wishes
On behalf of the Fellsman Committee"
I might add (by me Roger), this doesn't mean your miniscule, microlight 10 lumens LED will pass. Be sensible about it and bring something that's up to the job.
The forecast updates appear to be improving (slightly). This one was saying rain and wind all day SAt and overnight, but now just light rain pm and clear over night. Still have that moderate (prob strong on the tops though)NE wind, although easying overnight. So, if i manage the 40 odd miles to Cray the wind should ease and be largley "abaft the beam" (on the bum, but not that large!)

Can anyone find a better forecast, still could do with the wind dropping a bit?
