Today's poet

A triple haiku

Hurry up Friday
Jeans and bacon buttie day
Ending in snuggles ;)

Slow down Saturday
Long run in the countryside
Ending in kisses :p

Make it stay Sunday
bird watching at the seaside
Ending in sad tears :mad:

Obviously something in the water (or more likely the latte) this week. One-off becomes three-off. Same old subject…

Broad Stand - a poem

An elephant in the room
Thirty foot and grey
That's half as old as time
And standing in the way

How did it know to stand
Between the biggest two?
With no easy way round
And blocking the way through

Replete in coloured reins
He's brought under control
And fifteen hours in
The climb becomes a stroll

When mates become mahoots
You bravely make your way
The elephant in the room
Is gone, and you're away

Hey I'm liking this OOP. I have the occasional stubborn elephant to deal with!:rolleyes:

Awww sweet :)

Frosty Morning



Plants stiff with frost,

a solitary rose edged with delicate lace;

the night air has tightened the earth,

prevented birth,

but the sun's heat starts to melt

the shimmering specks away.



All is peaceful on the grass,

the ice is cracking on the river,

ducks swim out

to stretch their feathery bodies,

after a cold night on the riverbank.

I'm snowed under at the moment but had to check in and say...I kow Dufton well. Been camping there for years and held my 'wedding that never was' party there...long story. There is a nice campsite that runs down to Dufton Ghyll, an excellent B&B serving organic fairtrade food and run by a fell runner and his wife who have a beautiful garden yu can sit in and they greet you with tea and cake. Dufton Pike, the pointy hill behind the vilage, would be a great spot for a fell poets meet up and there are lots of other B&Bs in the area. You are quite right OW, the village hall would be a good spot for Simon and it would be something we could get the locals involved in. I have a few contacts up there if anyone wants me to look into it.

brill, you described my near perfect weekend, throw in a couple of kids shananigans and minus the tears and hey presto!...good use of the word snuggles...i do like a good snuggle myself .....................sigh

Do you want me to email those responsible for Mr armitages walk and tell them we have some prelimanary ideas for the stop over in Dufton and then we could start making some concrete plans

I think, when you are less snowed under, the poem 'the wedding that never was party' might be something to unveil at this possible FPS gathering!
