Just a reminder about Vanessa Chappell tomorrow night at 7.30pm. Starts from the old Moorside Hotel, now called The Wings School. Slightly longer route but hopefully a faster start with no stiles!

Was Vanessa Chappell a local runner? I read somewhere that it's in memory of her but don't know much else. A great race to be honoured by.

AFAIK she was a Stockport Harriers as a Junior, at least that's what I heard from numerous members of the club. I think something very tragic happened to her, but I'm not sure what. I have heard nothing but good things about this race, it's a shame I can't make it.

Thanks Rasher. I've run it twice now and always wondered about the name. It's a pity more isnt known about her or something said at the start of the race or in the flyer. Enjoy it later if you're doing it.

I think i've found a new contender for my favourite local race!

Thanks everyone for turning out tonight, the new start route was a resounding success and we have had fantastic feedback.

Thanks goes to the poor but always cheerful Marshalls who stood in the cold wind tonight, it wasn't pleasant. Results will be up shortly.

The race was arranged in memory of Vanessa Chappell who was tragically murdered in Germany. Every year we donate money to the charity of her mothers choice, which is Roy castle Lung Cancer, in memory of her father.
