Juicer> No photo sorry. I did see the terrible twins at the top. You were a long way ahead of the next runner (the marshalls needed their binoculars to work out whether the last runner was in the race). People usually say they are feeling OK when you ask them in these races, but the last runner said he was in a bad way and it looked like that. You twins were quite sprightly in comparison.
Cheers Zlod and Gaz :)
Not sure about 'sprightly', but we certainly weren't in 'a bad way' at any point. Although slow, we were well within ourselves, and enjoyed the whole day tremendously. The friendliness of everyone made our day :D
I said hello to a calder valley runner -- well i said - 'well done calder valley' as you sped down as I staggered up,
you will know me zlod - i think i was the only person in gloves that day - i believed the organiser when he said it was minus 2 on top - i (for some reason) thought it would be quite cool on the way up and on the way down but it was really warm - and only on the very very top (and for five seconds) were you greeted with a cool breeze that justifed the glove wearing for the 2hours and 13mins!
I really loved this race - I was on holiday in wales and set off at 8 in the morning to get from from the north lleyn, to pwllhelli, to porthmadoc and to dollgellau to get to it and my friend actually cycled the 60 miles to come and watch! I think we deserved a prize for that alone however we couldnt hang around for the prize giving we had to set off back!
he took some photos and i think I have one of you widdy if you are the tall chap in black who i came off the top with - you follwed me down whcih i think was a bad idea as i kept changing my mind about the best route. I'm surprised i didnt trip you up!
Hi Juicer - were you "terrible twins" carrying camel-backs? Think I was jostling for position at the back with you at the start....brain at start of race too concerned with worrying about instructions, contents of bum-bag, getting lost etc. to allow me to identify forumites. Glad you had a good time.
Cheers for the encouragement Daleside, it's nice to know who said what (if you know what I mean). Your photo is probably Widdy , in a black Rochdale vest, with 2 diagonal stripes down the front, as you both came in at a simlar time, and Manhar pointed you out as another forumite as we stood around eating free mars bars and energy drink.
with regards
Gaz:)

'A tall chap in black' - I hav'nt been called that since the milk tray advert!! It was certainly interesting trying to keep up with you and your route choices, but it kept my mind off the pain in my knees. I saw you ditch your golves in the last mile, hope you got them back. Will look out for you at future races.
