Austwick Amble

Pen-Y-Ghent on Saturday at 3pm. Only 6 miles and 1 hill. Prob more a fell shoe route than Austwick. Not done this one miself but looking forward to it, route looks good and climb gradient is one of those that makes it just runnable! Enjoy if you come over.

Sorry I didn't join you, RM. Had a disappointing race on Sunday, wife at work yesterday, 3 children to look after, so I wimped out. Glad you enjoyed it.
The 'only one hill' at PyG is a challenging one, if you're coming off road running.

BL, yes, I had a bad race on Sunday too, don't know what the heck happened .... nearly 3 minutes slower than last year and felt like crap. Must have been post-holiday syndrome or something. The Austwick race made up for it though, it was a really great day out and I enjoyed a pint on the green after the race. As for PyG, well, I think I know the course - I've been up that 'only one hill' before -but might wimp out, it's the Kirkby Malzeard Black Sheep race on the same day and I'm sort of honour-bound to do it. The free pies and scones put on by the local WI at the end make it a difficult one to miss, truth be told.

I was looking at the BOFRA and FRA websites earlier and there are a couple on there that don't clash with evening league stuff, so I'll be giving it another go.

Anyone considering this? Am up in the Lakes over that weekend supporting Stef F's BGR and thought it might be nice to pull into Austwick on the way home for the race and perhaps a pint on the village green afterwards. It's the village gala that day, last year I had a very nice pie to go with my pint after the race ;)

That's tempting, Martyn. Could be a swan song. Cleaning the quarter is getting to be a drag.

Roy! Thought you'd buggered off to Scotland already .... Well, hope you can make it and we can say goodbye properly, I might even buy you a pint!

Route looks like classic limestone country, tempted to give it a go but i'm doing Hutton Roof on the saturday, might not have the milage in my knee.
