Think you've hit the nail on the head, Fishbulb. Nothing seems as powerful as hydraulic discs. Got frogleggs on my cross bike and its like trying to slow down on ice:eek:

used Avid Shorties which I always got on with but I got a new bike that came with Frog-Legs... oddly enough now back on shorties as neither myself or the guys at Condor in London could fit them to the next bike..
bit off topic but entries for Fred Whitton go live this week, only postal entries but will fill up very rapidly.
Having just ridden the winter bike/crosser home from the LBS, the Short V brakes are definitely just as good as Dual Pivot ones!
Nikalas - I think it probably filled in the time it took you to type that! ;)
Fred Whitton sold out in less than 5 hours for 1000 riders:eek:
P'raps he's a really slow typist... :D
It's a great event is the Fred but I think they should:
a) Do a bit better job of route marking (I hasten to say I got round it fine but I'd recce'd a lot, if not all, of it before), as there were people getting lost well inside the first third of it.
b) Put up some warning signs on Hardknot and Wry nose to warn car drivers. It was like a bleedin' car park when I went through and there were a fair few riders behind me.
I'm pretty sure that they said they had reached the limit of how many riders the roads could realistically handle last year. I'm also pretty sure that they've upped it this year!
Got a shot of the new Cross bike here....
Mudguards???
