Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
What about the markers you are advised to start at based on your estimated finish time..........................??????? Sounds to me like there may be an awful lot of people expecting to do a sub 3:30.

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
Not necessarily at the front, but find a wheel that is going at a pace you can just about stick with and sit on it... don't worry about doing your turn.

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
hanging with that sort of speed on fat tyres and twiddly gears is beyond me too..
trouble is everyone seems to be going full throttle on the road to get position
I saw a video, on U tube, of last years race and it takes the bunch about 5 mins to pass the stationary observer positioned at the first offroad section ( so about 5 miles in) , from fastest at front, to the ones taking it sensibly at the rear...
in the grand scheme of things that's not alot in a race that lasts anywhere from 3 hrs to inexcess of 5 hrs...
it's a great race and
I just thought i'd mention, as it was a suprise to me as a 3P'S numpty last year, nowt to worry about though, as for most it's a thrilling if tough few hours of fun....mostly :)

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l

problem is lots of people ignore them...whether it's road running, fell running or whatever...quite alot of slower people insist on being at the head of the race even if they don't have the ability to stay there for 100yds:confused:

The races of 2004, 2005 & 2006 all witnessed less than 20 riders breaking the 3:30 mark!

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
Looks like the start of a roadrace, so I shall be at the front if I can as it is easier to be overtaken than to have to overtake.... Only thing is, the roadraces I have done never had more than 120 people in them! It is going to be a bit more crowded on Sunday

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
I will be in the middle - plodding.

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
I'll be somewhere, limping, bloody shin hurting this morning:eek:
Bloody injuries, just before a big event:mad:

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
Have eliminated brake judder completly now my tightening headset slightly and towing in the brakes. Last minute test ride this morning with loaded hydration sac and all seems to work well. Make sure you thread your tube through the opposite side you intend to carry!!

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
This morning, I admired my new wheels :)
They are a thing of beauty... built on Hope Pro III red hubs and mavic open pro rims... the Landcruiser tyres hadn't come in yet, so left the bike (sans wheels) in the shop for them to be finished with tubes and tyres and put on the bike. Having a new chain fitted, will do the new brakepads myself tomorrow when I pick it up, everything should be running smoothly...
Pipe lagging to be fitted around the spare bike tonight and I will be ready to rock and roll... Need to change my watertube around to the other shoulder, thanks for reminding me Ady :)

I will only use the public routes rather than the private land only available to people racing. That way given your habit of trespass, I doubt you will see me.

Re: 3 Peaks CX entry list on l
Just been about for a couple of hours bedding the new pads in.
Still very tired, reckon racing the last three weekends inc a marathon may have been overdoing it a tad.

Yeah, the pirate kit is the yellow and black with the black skull and crossed bones on yellow... purposefully designed to stand out and look ugly
But I shall be wearing my cycling club kit, as it is a bike race :D
