Fellmonster aka Ricky Graham Fell Pony won from Andy Wrench.
I think Jo Waites was first lady. Amex won a spot prize for coming 71st.
Roger Rabbit beat Fleeter in a fight to the death but I think he lost the pool match to pudgy as he
was still trying to pot 4 yellows and there didn't seem to be any reds or a black left on the table.
cheers swoop!
Well done fell monster and everybody else who ran.
Good to see podgy shaping himself.:D
Hello peeps...
Glad you liked the race. Special thanks to my Mum & Dad on drinks at the finish, and Dominion who enabled me to have computerised results.
Cheers Dom, I owe you a couple of beers!!!
The pub is a terrific venue. The landlord Frank says we can have as many of these races as we like here. He does the food and drinks, we bring the runners. Everyone goes home happy.
Me and Chris are considering looking at the other side of the valley, perhaps on part of the Pennine Bridleway...
Here are the results... http://www.ogdenwater.freeserve.co.uk/

It was!
Alternate results here.. ;)
I think you just need to do a refresh on stringmans page to get the results up on that one.
I reckon that's 7 Stringman races I've been to and I still haven't bloody finished one!
Thanks for the results! 22nd for Pandakind
2-0 as it happens Swoop :D Thanks for the choccys by the way.
Fat Boy beats Disco Smurf again :p You can talk the talk DS, but can you run the run  Run any slower and you'll end up partnering me for the Pennine Relay.
Another race to Stringmans high standards. The chip butties were particularly welcome. Tough though, into the wind, with deep mud I kept trying to swim through, and tired legs from Saturday. Worth it just to watch Aly trying to catch Ali on the run in. Bet there were some words said in the pub later.
Apparently, some peeps can't get the results from my webshite....

85 runners is a terrific turnout to say that the race clashed with Dave Woodhead's Stanbury
fell race. I'm glad that strong wind had died down a bit from the previous day and that the
temperature was a little milder for running as well. The general feeling around the finish area
was that you all seemed to have enjoyed the event, and particularly that the course is a good
one.
Thanks to Chris Smale who helped me flag the first part of the route on Saturday afternoon,
though we made a 2 hour run of it, then we did the same, more or less after gathering them
on Sunday. Thanks to Kathryn Smale who again helped me on registration, and Brian Mills
who did a grand job on the laptop enabling us to have computerised results - and my Mum
and Dad who gave out refreshments at the end.
Frank and his staff at The Summit again did us proud with fine ales behind the bar and soup
and rolls and chip butties to all who wanted them.
Ricky Graham took the race by the scruff of the neck and beat 2007 race winner Andy Wrench by
A minute and a half. Ricky was unsure of the course at one point, just before rejoining the Pennine Way
on the return route, so he hesitated, thinking of waiting for Andy. Still, he took 19 seconds from Andy's record, which was set - it has to be said - in atrocious conditions, last year. Andy was first over 40 veteran
and Graham Schofield of Horwich ran a very fine race to dominate the over 50's, placing a superb fifth, though Rossendale's evergreen Ken Taylor won the over 60's section in an amazing twelvth position.
With support from Jon Wright in third place and from Kevin Booth, Todmorden won the team prize beer, though I later realised that because Calder Valley's Richard Greenwood had failed to put his club on the registration form, he had scuppered his club's chances of a clear win!
Calder Valley's Jo Waites smashed the women's record by around three minutes, with Aly Raw of Bingley Harriers also breaking Helen Ilsley's time from last year by over a minute as she took the veteran's prize in second spot. Sarah Grant of Leeds based Abbey runners led her clubmates to the womens team prize chocolates.
Thanks everyone and I hope to see you all again next year.
Allan Greenwood

Good to see Stringman's changed the date for next year, doesn't clash with the Splash at Stanbury:cool:
Enjoyed this one:)
Is it that time of year already? Might come out of semi retirement and jog very slowly round this. I might even let Disco Smurf beat me :p
have you found any proper athletes yet, ML? I know a few improper ones.
am looking at WHC as my first race of 2009 :D
will try to get up for a recce one day between crimbo and new year...
anything in particular I should be aware of/look out for?
Anyone experienced this one, and is it enter on the day?
by curious coincidence, I recce'd the route today (well the main circular part from the White House pub), and I'll deffo be doing it on Jan.18th
I'm assuming EOD is OK, as it doesn't say anything about pre-entry in the calendar
did this one last year ,was EOD ,won by Fellmonster...pub at finish, 'nuff said........
Club calendar race this one for me - not done it before
If ive got the right race, this is the first on the list for my club championship.
18th of Jan. 12m/1200.
Anybody doing it this year - any tips for if i do it? Ta.
and.....where is it?
Was thinking of doing this race, but is it a tester (good climbs etc) or is it just like a tough cross country run?
This is a good race with some nice quick running. There's one stiffish climb near the start then about 8-9miles of flat trails before reversing the climb (in my case last year looking over my shoulder for Swoop, who I'd been told was an ace descender!) and back to the pub. Nice views over to Stoodley Pike
almost a swoopism!
bored at work today! just trying to entertain myself
No better no worse unfortunatly.
Still did Ovenden on Sat and Ilkley Moor last night, and that didn't really make it any worse, just doesn't seem to get any better? Limping today though.
My attendance should be pretty certain although I do need to have a run round the Rombalds route at some point. You fancy that at some point DT?
