Do we have amy images of agricultural machinery in action????
Some behind the scenes agri-action – the start and finish fields were too overgrown so we took matters into our own hands and went medieval on that bad-ass-grass… http://flic.kr/s/aHsjAr3DW7

Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
The race is still on although there's a reasonable chance of you getting wet feet.
But please note that the parking field will be closed. Marshals will help you find alternative parking places along the road to Slack and Widdop.
You may end up parking further from the start/finish than you'd like but we will have a couple of scout tents where you can store your gear during the race
See you tomorrow!

Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
Will I be able to get there from Ilkley as I heard Hebden Bridge is flooded?
-
Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
Hi wjb, yes I would say even if Hebden did flood (although I'm not sure that is the case) you would be able to get here. Even at the end of June when all hell broke loose, the road was reopen by the morning. I can't see you having any problems at all. See you tomorrow!

Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
Glad to hear it's all still on. I hope the flagging party aren't too waterlogged by the time they get back tonight. There's usually some honesty box parking available near the park/bowling green on the opposite side of Heptonstall too. See you for a we 'un tomorrow! :D

Flagging done! Turned out to be nice evening - clouds lifted and blue sky appeared.
All roads clear and a half decent forecast (including sun) for tomorrow - all we need now is 100 forumites to come and enjoy the fun

Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
Had a smashing day today and managed to haul myself round in a reasonable time, despite my earlier misgivings about the amount of 'up'!
Great atmosphere in the village, and the weather really helped to show off the scenery too.
Many thanks to Steve and everyone else involved.

We'll forgive you fungus; 113 made it which was 20 up on last year I think we had 30 from CVFR alone (the results hide a few CVFR DNF) I was panicing on Friday as the rain fell and more and more people were texting/emailing/calling to ask if it was still on as the flood alerts, ITN/Sky news crews, and Prince Charles all gathered ready for another deluge. In desperation I called Rev Howard Pask (mainly to lend a few tables) I think this did the trick as the weather yesterday was nothing short of miraculous - too hot dare I say? A few us went home with vest shape white bits

Cheers, think it was more my cup of tea than all the recent short, fast and furious ones! I like the look of Widdop, so should make it up there.
I've emailed that photo, let me know if it hasn't turned up.

Icarus or Russel from Pudsey Pacers?
About to take off, crossing Hebden Dale back to Heptonstall, but flying too close to the sun on such a hot day, he was forced to climb back up from the Blue Pig with the sweaty masses.

Just dusting off the maps and flags ready for our next production.....2013 HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL RACE - 6 miles / 1500 feet (CAT A) - Saturday 6th July - 11.00am start.
Last year was a scorcher - have a look through last year's galleries in the threads above
Our web-mesiter has asked me to point out that in a bid avoid some web hosting fees we have set up a new web address - http://heptonstallfestivalrace.wordpress.com
http://heptonstallfestivalrace.wordpress.com is so new that it might not appear top of the google searches for a few weeks until you all start visiting the page for details
Hope you can join us on July 6th for a race and a beer......

Why is there a picture of me having a pee against the Alcomden Stones on the cover page?
Also no festival this year just the race - is the festival happening later this year?
-
Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
I'll have a word with the web designer to see if we can one of someone else taking pee on the actual race route - if not I think we could spare your blushes by using one of Dave Woodhead's or Sportsunday's pics from last year's race
The village Festival has been moved to September this year (due to the ongoing road closure - Lee Wood Road)
The Festival Fell Race organisers decided to keep the race in its traditional July slot; the 2013 fell race will act as a fund raiser for the September 2013 festival, before the festival returns to its July slot in 2014.
We still aim to have a good party afterwards - I guarantee there will be beer on sale - what more could you want?
-
Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
The village is hosting CVFR Tuesday club training on Tues 23rd June; at least one of the groups will be heading round the Festival route if you'd like to get a recce in; all welcome; meet at 18.45 for 19.00 start...beer, food, and folk session back in the White Lion afterwards....

Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
Does the postponement of the festival mean there will be no steam traction engine whistle to start the race this time???
