Can anyone confirm the grid ref of the start of leg 1/finish of leg 6?
It's down in the info sent out as 080 224, which is some distance from where it was last year (approx 097 214)? The info sent out however indicates that it's at Clay House Park (same as last year) and across the road from the rugby club, which if I remember correctly is at 099 215, across the other side of the B6112 from Clay House Park in West Vale.
The instructions and maps on the Halifax Harriers website also seem to indicate the start and finish is at Clay House Park
The pre race info last year gave the grid ref for the start as 080224 (North Dean Woods) but the start was definitely at 097214. I guess this is just the same incorrect info sent out again this year

We are running leg 3 and 4 on Sunday 28th November if people fancy it?
Just a reminder to anyone running leg 2 that there is a significant diversion about a mile after the start (around the reservoir dam) it's not a big problem, well marked etc. and takes you around the works and a large farmhouse then back to the track but it could be a bit disconcerting if you're not expecting it, worth having a look at to put your mind at ease.
Just reccied leg 4 - 8am Sunday - stunning!!! Great running - whats the latest on race / weather situation- assume thick snow will not necessarily be a problem?Attachment 4272Attachment 4273
Is it going to be on ?? heard on radio yesterday ( Sunday ) that the main Road through Mytholmroyd was closed ( Burnley Rd presumably ) if that remains closed the whole valley comes to a standstill !
plenty of time for a thaw yet though.
Certainly wasn't closed when I drove to work this morning.
Running conditions were pretty good over the weekend, there is alot of ice around so things like Ripponden old road could be fairly interesting. The forecast looks as though its going to warm up towards the weekend so can't see any reason why it wouldn't be on notwithstanding any more snow this week.
Main road down the Calder Valley certainly open and clear of snow. The road shut in Mytholmroyd may have been the Blackstone Edge Road through Cragg Vale, as this sometimes gets dodgy with ice near the top, near the Gtr Manchester border.
Reccied L5 on Saturday and the road to Wainstalls was also fine (ish). Lots of snow on the actual route however.
The problem around here now is that the old snow off the main roads has frozen hard with more snow forecast for later in the week. Could be interesting!
