19.75 miles and around 1500 feet in very wet conditions - Hesketh Lane, Chipping, Little Bowland, Burholme Bridge, Whitewell, Lees, Cow Ark, Bashall Eaves, High Hodder Bridge, Chaigley, Hesketh Lane; just 1h 30m.
Dodgy descents with rain sluicing down the spectacles!
Good riding in the rain Donkey, hard core :)
I was on the track this morning, tinkering with pursuit bars I have borrowed for the track champs at the end of the month. Just as well, as we have had a fair bit of rain already today... Turbo sprint session tonight, in the dry comfort of my home again...
Hann, not as "horrendous" as I expected it to be! I daren't take my spectacles off, as my vision would be worse than with rain sluicing down them. The normally 'good' Tektro CR520 cantis were very impaired by the water, more so than my companions Sora double pivot caliper brakes! Reads as if you are really getting into the track scene?
I love the track, this is going to be my first ever racing on the track though, so we shall see!
Canti's don't have as much stopping power as caliper brakes... be careful in the wet!
I had a lovely trip out from kings tree over cut gate to langsett and back. I'd forgotten how good a bit of singletrack it is
One day I will ride up the langsett side with out putting a foot down! Not just yet though...
And I had to do my 1.5 hrs easy on the bliddy turbo! Weather was horrendous when I woke up, storm and lashing rain... Typical: now that I have finished the sun has come out. Mind, not sure for how long and it is still very windy. One of my windows blew in last night, I think I may need a new one :S...
I braved the weather yesterday with a fellow bikie who took me to some new places that id never been before. A good long ride and 30odd miles of it easily at 25mph. Very very windy but we both worked our socks off.
Best part was when I pinched my fellow rider's bananas out of the back of her jersey.
You can pilfer food off a rider without them knowing in this wind
I can't possibly go for another bike ride until I've bought one of these!!

Anybody want to buy some of my old bikes to justify it???
Not sure about that handle bar tape dom?
Nice Welsh colours... but alas, doesn't go well with my kit, so I think I stick to my Qoroz Dom :)
Good session on the track this afternoon, all the turbo-ing is starting to pay off already :-O
A steady 30 this morning to see how the hamstring felt and it seemed not too bad so think a sort run tonight to test the water.
Do any of you lot wear gloves/mitts?
Al, yes, always wear gloves or mitts... you can seriously scrape your knuckles when you fall and the mitts/gloves protect your hands from this.
Nice couple of hours with a friend on undulating lanes last night, when it stopped raining. Another 50 minutes with a few 30 secs interval this mnorning... and now officially in taper mode for the gtrack champs :-O
Im after getting the AG25 jersey and I'd like to get the matching gloves and socks.
The only site ive found to sell the gloves and socks is a german site - http://www.trikotexpress.de/en/Profe...Mondiale-2010/
Would you trust it?
Including postage the grand total will be just over £74.
Don't see why not.
Have you had a peep on the Prendes Ciclismo site - some great clothing, modern & retro:
http://www.prendas.co.uk/default.asp
Yeah, why not Al? Go for the matching bib shorts as well, while you are about it! The kit would not look the same without them...
Anyway Al, are we out for a spin on Thursday.................?
Ah but Han, Im a self consious cyclist and wear my running shorts over the top of my lyrca shorts.:o
Ah damn.
I work full time now Ady. Im doing a placement for a year before going back and doing my final year of uni.
Just as im getting right back into cycling!
WHAT? Running shorts over cycling shorts? AL!!! Get a grip, no need to be self conscious... get those lovely shorts and wear the kit with pride :)
Levens 10 mile TT tomorrow night
got to beat 28.09
club skinsuits not arrived yet and they have got to be worth at least a minute
it does not help that i have swapped my bell with a vuvuzela
OKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
Bib short sizing?
Im 5"11 ish, with a 31" waist.
Small waist but size small would be too short. Surely I cant get large because even though I know lyrca is stretchy but come on!
And I cant try them on, because theya re coming from germany!
I love Lycra feels good next to my skin and great for going out dancing in the clubs ;)
Al, I would wear small, so you will be fine with a medium...
Bit deluvian here last night, for my 10m TT! Windy too... was wondering if the Ark was going to come and fetch me at some stage, when my lovely carbon wheels were budied axel deep in a HUGE puddle, no, correction, a small lake ;)
Still managed a 3 second pb, to my great surprise. Could have been due to the fact that I could not see out of my steamed up and rained on glasses, so no clue as to HR or speed, just kept pedalling as hard as I could for the duration!
Track this morning, and on last nights pb legs, I still managed a 500m TT pb as well... all that turbo training is definitely paying off :)
12 miles, 95% off road with just under 1000ft ascent/descent on an out and back. Just easing back in as I still feel pretty unfit from having shingles. Came off twice, first time slow on overgrown tight single track front wheel washed out i went over bars and luckily stopped by a tree as the track was on the edge of a gully. Big hole in the front of my shoes, nice c shaped cut to big toe. Shoe's unfortunately ruined :( Second crash was totally my own fault for being stupid, hammering back on a well rutted track pushed my hardtail farther than i should off and got pinged over the bars. Didn't manage to unclip this time so me and the bike landed against a fence a fair way from the trail. Thankfully just a few scratches, really glad I was wearing my lid. Despite the bins it was a good ride, and great weather which came as a surprise. Quite a bit of mud plugging in places as it was impossible to do anything else due to the recent downpours, and flooding of parts of the trail. And at least I now know just how far I can push my bike before it gives in. Not happy about the shoes though as I haven't had them long. Knew I should have bought sidi!
OOOOh crap.
Just been out for a tempo hour on the bike. I took the old one. Halford Carrera instead of the New Cannondale because it had just stopped raining.
I have just compared the two and here we go.
Bars better on Cannon
Seat better on Cannon
Brakes better on Cannon
Gearing better on Carrera
Gear change better on Carrera
Ride better on Carrera
What do I need to do to make the Grand bike as nice as the couple hundred quid bike?
lets deal with Alex first Trev
AL if your a 31" waist im surprised. Im a 30" and can sometimes get in a 28". You will be a medium
Yes you can get in a small bibshort but they may be tight on your legs a bit. Get a medium and 35miles in your ride you wont be riding no hands trying to re adjust your meat and two veg. There sorted.
trevor whats happening with your gears
and why is the ride better my friend. dont worry these things are easily sorted.
Set up/position
Saddle
Tyres/tyre pressure
(To Staggers question)
a steady 40 miles for me tonight and its strange trevor noting about his ride problems
only my third ride on my mercian and I kept stopping every 5 miles to tweak things. Saddle, bars. All sorted. Finally fittin my new cleats as well.
OH AND AL, before I went out my legs got shaved , AGain. Thats twice this week already
You need a man wot can Trev, hard to find but can be handy when eventually located!
Lots of turbo-ing for me since monday, over 4 hours racked up.....sadly the deluge we've been having that far from warrant a hosepipe ban have led to indoor cycling only :o:mad:
Medium it is then, ta daz'ing-tom.
Bibshorts arent half expensive though....£71.99 for the AG2R team shorts, and another £54 for the jersey.
But...unless I ditch it and rip them to shreds, should get my moneys worth.
Daz, bib shorts is a big step for me.....shaving my legs. I think my dad would dis-own me.
