Two months without a post of QAH?
Maybe it has been too noisy around here.
Certainly plenty of ‘noise’ on another thread in this section
Time i went on holiday again
Best ever xmas I had was on holiday for 3 weeks in Fuerteventura... xmas day went for a run, sat on the balcony eating spaghetti hoops and chorizo, then had a bit of a swim and a sunbathe.
Best xmas/new year Holiday I ever had was an extended campervanning one in Australia we went toward the end of 1999 and came back early 2000, much running walking in some memorable places e.g. Cober pedy , Alice springs, Kings Canyon, Blue mountains encountered Massive thunderstorms, Floods, colonys of Ants, intense heat pretty similar to being in the uk really.
However the Highlight was seeing the Millennium in on Sydney Harbour looking over to the Harbour bridge now that was a new year celebration I feel I can never top no matter where I go.
Happy Daze:cool:
Spent 3 days in Coober Pedy. 3 hours would have been plenty!
Aye up DT, yes, its a sign of the times that the once vibrant QAH thread is now nodding silently to itself in a parker knoll recliner in the darkest corner of the care home for unwanted threads!
I do remember back in the wild days of the Gravy Boys invasion that one of their member, Gravy Muncher I think it was, said that one day the forum would wind down and become a backwater for sad old boys to murmur to each other about nothing very much. Hmm Hate to admit he was right!
There’s life in the old thread yet Wheeze. Merry Christmas to you and yours and here’s to sad old boys murmuring still here and hereabouts in 2019
No quiet here, just the sound of my constant coughing :(
Ach, poor Mole. You need some of that goose grease and a bottle of famous grouse!!
4 b****y weeks of lurgy, following 6 weeks of Achilles niggling, the grouse bottle is empty.....
I blame racing, I knew no good would come of it - but bl***y glad I was there with you for the last special one.
Have a good Christmas mate, another year, another something!
I'm also a member (not quite so regular) on a music genre forum... it's pretty much identical to here in terms of it "problems".....
Back in 2006-2012 was probably it's heyday, but now it's full of people who are the older generation (in terms of dance music), don't get so much involved in the scene anymore, and most of the conversation is about anything but the music in question. In fact I mainly inhabit the thread about gym/fitness, and spend most of my time talking about Fell Running on there! Any attempts to start up enthusiastic conversation about current music issues, particularly by new forumites, are usually quashed pretty quickly by a lack of response.
At least on here, new members are treated with respect, information, etc. And the fact that this place is the single greatest trove of info for Fell Running is, I think, never in doubt.
Just the way a lot of forums are going. More people just want to ask the same old questions on social media.
The only forum I'm a member of that has a huge community of members (the CCFC forum), is generally inhabited by absolute clowns, and I barely use anymore. Which generally points to the fact that a large proportion of the general population are not really worth conversing with! (I think the fact that reality tv is so popular bears this point out perfectly).
Both car-parks in Haworth reported as being ‘quiet’ by my in-laws this afternoon
Our Christmas ascent of the kymin was very peaceful. Saw very few people around but it was very dreich!
Just woke up on the island of Sal Cape Verde.
Sunny and 24° beautiful beaches back on ti the hotel.
Any mention of politics is barred on QAH
There are specific threads for unimportant prattle like that
Like a park run on a morning.
On the beach and round the bay.
No good for fell folks, highest point on island is only 50m above sea level 🤣
Chicken curry and ice cream tonight. I need to get out in the fresh air over the weekend
Had my nephew for the day yesterday. Got stuck down the side of the bed playing "hide and seek".... then we went to the zoo, which was great fun, although he was equally impressed by the huge Tomato Ketchup machine as he was by the Giraffes and Leopards.
Then we got home for a game of football and more hide and seek. Was a relief to get to the gym in the evening for a bit of a rest.
Enjoy it while you can. It doesn’t seem five minutes since we used to take the eldest two of my three nephews to Black Rocks or Matlock Bath. They’re 25 and 22 now and the youngest is at Loughborough University
Something tech / product designy
So he won't be getting taught by me.
Welder is the way forward 😎
So 2019. What’s this year going to bring?
Happiness & health
Wealth
Lower golf handicap
Lower weight
Possible return to running
Bloody hell its gunner be a cracking year👌👍
Hope so
More fun and games with the nephew today... taught him about the "highest hill in the world... Mt Everest"..... showed him some pics, and my mirospikes, and between us we calculated that we'd need to carry 229 sausages to fuel us up and down. Then we had to go and climb, then skate down (we were actually climbing on the sofa).
I'll make a Fellrunner of him yet... the look on his face when I showed him some pics and told him that I run up and down mountains... although he was pretty dismayed that I haven't run up and down Everest yet....
Tidied up the garden and cut the grass.
That's a first in January.
I miss-read your post Stagger and thought it said tied up in the garden and on the grass
Ha ha ha, I like the green colour but certainly not the weed.
And brown belongs in the toilet.
Very bland weather again today.
Will probably be a water shortage this summer.
Just realised, it's my 10th anniversary of being a fellrunner this year. First race was Ingleborough 2009, and i thought that 'no safety pins' on the website meant you had to glue your number on or summat. I was lent some pins by a rather pretty lady and pinned my number to the back of my cotton t-shirt, so i had to run backwards through the checkpoint and the finish. I've never been back due to injury so it would be nice to get a sub 1hr this year, which i'm theoretically capable of.
Once a fellrunner always a fellrunner Mr B
QAH today
Not been much traffic for the last 24hs?
Plenty to talk about
